Do you think Najera could help us under the boards? I do. He is a solid banger who could contribute. He is still under a contract from sept 2002-6 years @ 24 million, with opt out clause after 5 years. What could we trade to Denver that would not weaken us to get him??
Once again the majority of you guys want playground, average shooters at best worth a handful of dunks a year for the only traditional pf on our team. I want an enforcer for Yao and Tracy to clear the lanes not a streaky athlete who creates his own bad shots and usually misses. I think its the Dwayne Wade bandwagon effect. He's special guys...there aren't many like him or even close to him. I think the reason he can get to the basket easier is because Shaq creates that spacing with the double team or atleast threat his presence demands ALA Yao. We have TMac to fill Wades role on this team. We've got guards. Being a guard on this team means play D and hit an open shot. The coaches can't control the misses but they can give a team the gameplan to shoot as close to the basket as we can. The inside game is the most practical game in the league. The game slows down in the playoffs and if it doesn't it gets sloppy. The reason all these guys are running is because they don't have a Yao or Shaq or Duncan. Let's take advantage of what we have and leave the highlight films to the players that get theirs but always lose.......WE NEED A CONSISTENT DOMINANT PF.
Although I think S. Jackson has the size and even attitude we want, I dont think he adds that much depth in this trade. Head is a SG just like Jackson. Plus we have battier, tmac, snyder, vspan, and sura already who can play some SG. Adding Jackson here adds another SG but takes away a SG and a PF. That would leave us with only battier, hayes, maybe tmac and novak at PF. We would be very thin there cuz I know we dont want tmac guarding PF and I am not sure if Novak can do that at this point either. I agree Howard is not a great option but at least he is a true PF. The only way we can give up howard and head in a trade is if we get a PF back in return or are able to sign one first. As for Ely, he would be an okay pick up as would lorenzen wright, but I am not sure any PF are out there who will take what we have left of the MLE especially after JL3 takes a little bit more out what was left after the vspan signing. I think our best bet on a PF is trading some kind of combination of howard, head and/or the trade exception.
Hmmmm, ok. I'll try to throw an idea out there. 1ST TRADE: ROCKETS Trade: Bob Sura & Luther Head + 2nd pick Recieve: Devin Brown & Zarko Caparkapa WARRIORS: Trade: Devin Brown, Mickael Pietrus, Zarko Caparkapa & Keith McLeod Recieve: Jamal Magloire & Luther Head BUCKS: Trade: Jamal Magloire Recieve: Mickael Pietrus, Bob Sura & Keith McLeod + 2nd round pick 2ND TRADE: Rockets trade $4.2 TE & a 2nd rounder to Lakers for Chris Mihm 3RD TRADE: Rockets trade Zarko Caparkapa to the Lakers for Aaron Mckie (Rockets then cut McKie to make room to sign Lucas III) ROCkETS 06-07 LINEUP: PG: Alston - Spanoulis - Lucas III SG: Battier - Brown - Snyder - Spanoulis SF: McGrady - Battier - Snyder - Brown - Novak PF: Howard - Mihm - Hayes - Battier - Bowen C: Yao - Deke - Mihm Best I could do. lol
Here is my trade to throw Juwon Howard under the bus. NJ needs size. See artice with the same title on their realgm page. We pay them to take him, get their trash. Maybe we get a useful player, too. McInnis can help this year, and Vspan can play 2. Unfortunately, Head does not have a position in the NBA, and we use him to exit the former fab five also-ran. Houston Trade Breakdown Outgoing Juwan Howard 6-9 PF from Michigan 11.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.7 minutes Luther Head 6-3 PG from Illinois 8.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.7 apg in 28.9 minutes Incoming Jeff McInnis 6-4 PG from North Carolina 5.3 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 17.4 minutes Zoran Planinic 6-7 PG from Croatia (Foreign) 3.4 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.0 apg in 10.6 minutes Antoine Wright 6-7 SF from Texas A&M 1.8 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.3 apg in 9.5 minutes Change in team outlook: -10.1 ppg, -6.1 rpg, and -0.9 apg. New Jersey Trade Breakdown Outgoing Jeff McInnis 6-4 PG from North Carolina 5.3 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 17.4 minutes Zoran Planinic 6-7 PG from Croatia (Foreign) 3.4 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.0 apg in 10.6 minutes Antoine Wright 6-7 SF from Texas A&M 1.8 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.3 apg in 9.5 minutes Incoming Juwan Howard 6-9 PF from Michigan 11.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.7 minutes Luther Head 6-3 PG from Illinois 8.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.7 apg in 28.9 minutes Change in team outlook: +10.1 ppg, +6.1 rpg, and +0.9 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Houston and New Jersey being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Jersey had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. GET JOHN SALMONS! Realgm just posted that Sixers are not extending their qualifying offer to Salmons anymore after he backed out with the Raptors. Salmons would be a great fit with the rockets, he can play four positions and is a young, athletic defender.
We will have 14 players under contract when JL3 and Novak sign - that will leave us one roster spot available. We only have Snyder and Head at SG. I'd like to see us pick up Damon Jones to play some at SG. He probably could be had for our trade exception, because Cleveland is shopping him, and wants to clear some cap: http://www.medina-gazette.com/Articles.asp?num=59249298 "Shooting guard Damon Jones is being shopped elsewhere, which is a shame because he was one of the Cavaliers' better players from February on. "D.J." made just under half of his 3-point attempts over the season's final four months, including a pair of game-winning bombs on the road. Unfortunately, Cleveland almost has to deal Jones for cap flexibility since it is already on the hook for $21 million to Eric Snow — thanks to yet another brilliant trade made by ex-GM Jim Paxson. ..."
I'd rather have Salmons than Damon Jones, I think their prices would be fairly similar but Salmons brings more to the table. Jones is a one trick pony, all he can do is shoot and we don't need another undersized shooting guard, and we have the point guards locked up in alston, v-span and lucas, so Jones is too redundant. Salmons can play anything from 1-4 and although not as good of a shooter as Jones, is more than capable of hitting the open shot.
i wanna another guy who can defend....we got like alston, who can only kinda defend, head, who we all saw get shot over over and over again, howard, whos probably gonna have another heart attack, and now jluk whose undersized and novak whose probably slower than shaq after having three cheeseburgers.... yaya i kno we got battier and mac and yao...but i want another defender!
Chuck Hayes is a good defender. Not a good defender *for his size*. He's a good defender, period. I don't know why he keeps getting overlooked.
