Here's the link. I was hoping that the Spurs would release him after the pre-season games.

I just wanted to add this here because the Rockets Rumor thread from 610 is closed. I e-mailed Jeremy Foster today and he wrote that he called the Rockets. Nothing is going on right now, just some talk. No names were mentioned,Jeremy said Morey is in Vegas with other GM's.I'm not trying to be smart,or get recognition on the board. I wanted to know if there was anything to this so called scoop that was mentioned today.

Great scoop, Jeremy. Next time try channels that actually answer - like agents, 'league officials', chefs etc.

3 team trade w/Portland and LAC:

Rockets get: PF/C Raef LaFrentz & 4 unsigned players (Shortianitis, Diaz, Jordan from Clips & Fernandez from Blazers)

Clippers get: PG Rafer Alston, SG Kirk Snyder, PF Josh McRoberts and unsigned PF Carl Landry

Blazers get: SG Corey Magette, SG Bob Sura, SF Justin Reed

Everyone gets what they want: Clips get a vet PG, Blazers get cap space plus a vet SG, Rockets get roster space and a backup at the 4/5 who's play complements Yao, Deke and Butler.

    Successful Trade Scenario

Due to Houston, L.A. Clippers, and Portland being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston, L.A. Clippers, and Portland had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Given Boston just added a swingman I am going to bring this one up again--most of which I adapted from what I just wrote in the general NBA section. Boston is in way too critical of a juncture of a vet team to count entirely on Rondo, and even if he is good they have zero back-up for a team with lots of scorers. They don't want to get Matt Maloney'ed where getting so outclassed in one spot it kills you despite your stars.

Here are the meats on one of 4 deals I predict to happen:

*Rafer + Reed for Scalabrine + Tony Allen

*D. Stoud for Scal + Powe

    *Watson for Scal + Allen

*Banks + Pike for Scal + Allen

Boston also might have to kick in some combination of Portland 2008 2nd, their own 2009 2nd, or their own 2011 1st.

I personally think Rafer Alston would be a terrific trade for them even if it cost them two 2nds. He has more gas in the tank left/healthier than D Stoud and is more experienced/proven than the alternatives if counted on for heavy minutes (Watson or Banks). And in the Rockets case they shave a little over 1 mil this year (2 mil with lux cap--use to resign Deke!), pick up a 3rd PF, save more salary down the line (Tony Allen is expiring), and get two 2nds. Our we could ask for the rights to Big Baby (if he signs a deal in Europe) instead of a one of the 2nds.

Not a bad idea. But maybe we can get some better player for Skip?
