IMO, only if Deke doesn't re-sign which is possible since he's considering offers from other teams and retirement.

Celtics need a vet PG. They have a sophomore player in Rajon Rondo starting. While Telfair's future in the league is up in the air. Telfair also started last season as their starter PG but ended up as the third option by season's end. Delonte West was the preferred starter but he's gone now.

If Francis signs, then packaging Alston, Sura, Snyder, Lucas, and Reed would get the salaries to match with an eye on keeping under LT.

I can actually see Alston working well in the Celtics backcourt. With Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, they don't necessarily need much firepower from their PG. Still, I think it'll take more than Alston and change to get Boston to bite.

I'd be all for trying to deal Alston but the question is what sort of Houston/Boston deal makes sense for both sides? Who do they have that we need?

I suppose we could try to trim down the roster by sending over a bunch of contracts/dead weight for Theo Ratliff's expiring deal.

Maybe something like Alston/Snyder/Sura/Lucas for Ratliff/Ryan Gomes. Sign Francis and a low risk 2/3 or retain Harris.

I also bet that for the sake of Tommy Heinsohn's sanity either Allan Ray or Tony Allen are available. This whole idea of having Ray Allen, Tony Allen and Allan Ray is probably just too much for the poor old guy to handle.

"I'll tell you what. That Alston guy has a little Isiah Thomas in him!" ;)

Trade Idea: Rafer Alston For James Posey?

Now that we got Francis, and Miami is in desperate need of a PG. How about a Sign & trade with Miami, Alston for James Posey. He's a Great defender and can shoot the three, just in case Bonzi doesn't perform again.

LOL, I guess this off season we're trying to bring in guys that use to play for us. First James, now francis. What's next? Do I see Ralph Sampson working out at the TC........

I'd be all over it. We don't have a good, reliable backup 3.

    Francis/James/Brooks
    McGrady/Wells
    Battier/Posey
    Scola/Hayes
    Yao/Mutombo

Francis and James can also spend time at the 2, Wells/Posey can swing from 2 to 3. Battier can do spot duty at backup 4.

Then package some combo of Head, Snyder, Novak, Sura for a 4/5 to play 10 minutes max.

We still need a proven 4 and bring Scola along slowly. Alston+Sura for Haslem. Get it done, Morey-man.

Really, I thought the Bucks owned his contract, or he didn't play in the U.S.
Maybe so, but I would Dig seein Yao and Yi play in the same front court...
