Houston sends Battier/Alston/Snyder/#26 pick/future #1 pick to Boston.

Boston sends T-Ratliff/Telfair/#5 pick/#32 pick to Houston.

With the 5th pick, Houston selects Yi Jianlian (PF), & with the 32nd pick, Houston selects which ever one is left of Morris Almond(SG)/Marcus Williams(SG/SF)/Reyshawn Terry(SG/SF).

Boston gets a starting SG/SF in Battier, a veteran backup PG for Rando, & with the 26th pick, they select their choice of PF in Josh McRoberts/Sean Williams/Tiago Splitter to play alongside Al Jefferson. All this, while dumping 2 pieces of unwanted cargo.

After signing Jamal Sampson & Bonzi Wells in free agency, the Rocket's lineup would consist of:

    C: Yao/Sampson/T-Ratliff(IL)
    PF: Jianlian/Hayes/Sampson/T-Ratliff(IL)
    SF: T-Mac/Bonzi/Novak
    SG: Bonzi/Head/Marcus Williams
    PG: James/Spanoulis/JL3/Telfair(IL)

There's definitely some fire power in the starting 5. Isn't it fun to fantasize? :)

Lets just trade Luther straight up for Sheldon Williams. They get the guard they want and we get the power forward we want.

Salaries are similar and stats are roughly the same cept amazingly enough, Sheldon shoots a better 3 ball than Luther.

Throw in JL3 or Rafer if we absolutely have to.

Never say never. Could anyone on this board have predicted the Rockets trading Rudy Gay for Battier? No one truely expected Gay to drop to the 8th pick & yet he did. We made the trade to dump Swift's contract.

That's the pretext of my proposal. This draft is going to have a lot of quality big men later in the draft, & even into the 2nd round. Boston could still pick up a quality big man, while also getting one of the better defensive 3's in the league, that is a very good shooter as well. They pick up a veteran PG &, even though the future #1 may be (hopefully) a late round pick, it's still a #1 pick that can be bundled with their #1 pick to move up in that particular draft. They also drop 2 players that might not be figured into their future plans. One of which, seems to be a problem child.

No one ever said any of these proposals would happen. They're just for provoking conversation & dream weaving. :D Now don't get me wrong, I really like Battier, but he's our greatest trade asset, other than Yao/T-Mac.

They are not going to trade Williams for Head straight up. Williams was a #5 pick last year and actually played well down the stretch for them. Head was the 24 or 26 pick two years ago, and hasnt greatly exceeded what was expected of him. Yes Atlanta needs a guard, but it is a PG not a SG, and Head shown he is not a steady PG.

I do like this swap being done but more players will have to be involved. I think a more realistic trade would be Rafer, Head and Sura for Williams and Speedy Claxton. The hawks get a PG who is good at running a team (Rafer) and basically only has to start for a couple seasons until the PG they draft takes over. They get a shooter in Head and get the expiring contract of Sura. More importantly they dump Speedy's bad contract and get a lot more cap flexibility.

The rockets have to take the bad Speedy contract, but at least get a guy who can back up James. It would suck to have James and Claxton signed for that much money, but more importantly, we get our starting PF, who can defend and rebound and doesnt have to be developed since he is 23 or 24 and played four years at Duke.

I got a feeling, Golden State might take Houston on this offer:

    Sarunas Jasikevicius
    6-4 PG from Maryland
    6.1 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.7 apg in 15.4 minutes
    Patrick O'Bryant
    7-0 from Bradley
No games yet played in 2006/07
    2007 Draft #36 Pick
    0-0 from
No games yet played in 2006/07
    Incoming
    Bob Sura
    6-5 from Florida State
No games yet played in 2006/07
    Kirk Snyder
    6-6 SG from Nevada-Reno
    4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg in 14.4 minutes
    Luther Head
    6-3 PG from Illinois
    10.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.4 apg in 27.6 minutes
Change in team outlook: +9.7 ppg, +4.1 rpg, and +0.7 apg.

    Houston Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing
    Bob Sura
    6-5 from Florida State
No games yet played in 2006/07
    Kirk Snyder
    6-6 SG from Nevada-Reno
    4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg in 14.4 minutes
    Luther Head
    6-3 PG from Illinois
    10.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.4 apg in 27.6 minutes
    Incoming
    Sarunas Jasikevicius
    6-4 PG from Maryland
    6.1 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.7 apg in 15.4 minutes
    Patrick O'Bryant
    7-0 from Bradley
No games yet played in 2006/07
    2007 Draft #36 Pick
    0-0 from
No games yet played in 2006/07
Change in team outlook: -9.7 ppg, -4.1 rpg, and -0.7 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Golden State and Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Golden State and Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

What can we get for Rafer, Luther, Jake, Vspan, and #26? Can we trade with an east coast team to move up?

I would like to keep Tmac, Yao, MJames, Bonzi, Snyder, and Chuck together.

Since SVG (JVG big brother) loves Rafer let's trade, Rafer, Head, Jake, and expiring contract (sura) for Jameer and Darko?

I doubt they would give up on O'Bryant this early anyway.

I got one for you guys... Assuming the KG trade never happens.

Sura, Vspan (assuming he agrees to play) or Head, Snyder, next years 1st, to PHX for Banks, and Hawks pick next yr. It gives the Suns depth, and relief from Banks. We get a lotto pick and clear up playing time for Wells. Diaw is probably asking too much. We are stuck with Banks though.

Or maybe Head, Snyder, Span, 26th to Sacramento. Artest to PHX. Banks, Diaw, this yrs 1st rd to Houston (or maybe the Hawks pick if its not out of reach). That way Adelman doesn't get Artest (appease Maloofs), Petrie gets the guys he supposedly coveted, and the Suns get a small contract all-star to ease the pain of trading Marion's contract away.

    Damn I am bored.

i've heard daniels and thomas are on the market from washington. What about trdaing rafer, sura and head for daniels and etan thomas. He's a good rebounder when healthy and shot blocker and daniels can man the point along with james.

Trade Shane Battier & Luther Head for Al Harrington...

    2007-08 Rotation/Line Up
    1) Rafer Alston
    2) Bonzi Wells
    3) Tracy McGrady
    4) Al Harrington
    5) Yao Ming

    6) Mike James

    Why?

Golden State: They get a player that can help them on defense & both players can shoot consistently.

Houston: They get a starting power forward that can spread the floor for Yao & will get at least 6 rebounds a game.
