Although having MJ and Nocioni off the bench, would immediately double the depth of our bench.

Sura, Snyder, Head FOR Malik Rose

    Lucas FOR David Lee

Knicks can waive Sura & Lucas for a discount so they're more or less swapping Head for Lucas and dumping Rose's 7.1M contract for Snyder's+1.5M (that's around 3.8M).

Snyder's an expiring contract while Rose has another year at 7.6M. Knicks can save 6.6M in LT next season and 15.2M the next. That's the benefit of dumping Roses's contract for them.

    Now that James is here....

Assuming management pulls off an Artest for Sura,Snyder,#26 and Span (Or possibly Head which still works salary wise and possibly makes it more attractive )

That trade will make this team much stronger but the real benefit I think is that we can then use the MLE to sign a PG to take Rafer's place and then shop a package of Battier+Alston for a quality PF which will give us MANY more options even if we're not the team that gets the most value from the trade..

very quick example: Battier + Alston for Marcus Camby
    MLE for Mo Williams

I also believe that the team will end up MUCH stronger leading to Bonzi deciding to stay and (hopefully) play...

    Leading to a roster of:

    James
    Williams
    (Span or Head)
    Lucas
    T-Mac
    Artest
    Bonzi
    Camby
    Hayes
    Yao
    Novak
    (Deke resigned?)
    (Webber for LLE?)

    How does that sound?

The most realistic trade would be Luther Head for Andersen Varajao. He is tall, rebounds well and he guarded some of the best big men in the playoffs (Rasheed and TD). Someone just has to tell him to stop shooting the ball so much. He can fill our need at the 4. Varajao also player the pick adn roll very well with Lebron. I can see him doing the same with Tracy. We can get a defensive minded big who will do the dirtywork. (Watch some of his videos and you can see he is a scrappy/dirty/flopping kinds of player like a taller version of Hayes)

By trading Luther we can clear the logjam in the backcourt. We have another shoot first guard in Mike James and Luther does not really have a position. As much as I love his shooting, he is not a pg and he is also undersized to guard the bigger 2s in the league.

    Rockets lineup for next year.

    PG: Rafer/Mike James
    SG: T-Mac/Snyder
    Sf: Shane/Bonzi
    PF: Varajao/Hayes
    Center: Yao/Mutumbo

not bad, we get younger and bigger. Maybe package Rafer, Sura's contract, and our 1st rounder for Bibby.

I also posted this in the Who's our next PF thread but I don't think a lot of people saw it. Discuss

To me the rox goal should be to win the ring in the next 3yrs. After that, lebron, carmello, and wade will be free in 3 yrs when racy will be 31 and yao 30. At that time they can reload with one of those guys and reduce tracy money and he becomes the 3rd guy. Have a plan, execute the plan and move forward. If the artest trade is pulled off, more than likely an extension will be in order and the plan is probably off. If artest is on this team, this is a title type of team bar none.

This is the most realistic roster i have seen so far.......works for me Webber knows the system and Camby would be awesome shot blocker rebounder... Great Post Alex!

I dunno about realistic but it was an interesting thought....

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of trading Battier and would like to see a solution come a different way but this was an interesting perspective to teh whole Artest scenario...

The thing is in my opinion Artest makes Battier redundant... And although it is a risk, it puts us in a great position to be major contenders immediately. As long as we can pick up a PG with the MLE (like Mo i mentioned above) , a package of Alston+Battier is fair game...

I chose Camby because he is a strong PF/C with amazing defensive skills which will really help free up Yao... Also, Denver is loaded with big men and they really need a couple of quality role players (which battier and alston are) that can come in and help straight away so I think that kind of deal would be appealing to them, we might even get some filler.

Now that I look back to it, I'm not sure I'd give the LLE to webber (although I chose him due to the Adelman connection) since Camby can take some of the C minutes and I have Deke signing on for his final year....

There are a few other options for the LLE however so it's not much to worry about....Quinton Ross would be a nice option for example ...

However this is a very risky situation since you're taking a risk with Artest and assuming Bonzi will stick around.. If Bonzi doesn't you have a big hole in SG....

Still...This would be a very good team offensively but with amazing defensive talent as well that can play a lot of alternative styles...

    James/T-Mac/Bonzi/Artest/Yao offensively? :)

    and also,

Williams/T-Mac/Ross/Artest/Camby which would choke the opponent in defense

Following new information, add Justin Reed. Replace Webber with Quinton Ross.

Assuming 1 filler player in the Camby deal, there is your 15 :)

If some how the Lakers go for this, it would be nice:
    Houston Outgoing:
    Shane Battier
    6-8 SF from Duke
    10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 36.5 minutes

    Bob Sura
    6-5 from Florida State
No games yet played in 2006/07

    Luther Head
    6-3 PG from Illinois
    10.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.4 apg in 27.6 minutes

    John Lucas
    5-11 PG from Oklahoma State
    3.3 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 8.2 minutes

    2007 Draft #26 Pick
    0-0 from
No games yet played in 2006/07
    Incoming

    Lamar Odom
    6-10 PF from Rhode Island
    15.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 4.8 apg in 39.3 minutes

    2007 Draft #40 Pick
    0-0 from
No games yet played in 2006/07
Change in team outlook: -8.4 ppg, +1.8 rpg, and -0.4 apg.

    L.A. Lakers Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing

    Lamar Odom
    6-10 PF from Rhode Island
    15.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 4.8 apg in 39.3 minutes

    2007 Draft #40 Pick
    0-0 from
No games yet played in 2006/07
    Incoming

    Shane Battier
    6-8 SF from Duke
    10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 36.5 minutes

    Bob Sura
    6-5 from Florida State
No games yet played in 2006/07

    Luther Head
    6-3 PG from Illinois
    10.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.4 apg in 27.6 minutes

    John Lucas
    5-11 PG from Oklahoma State
    3.3 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 8.2 minutes

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and L.A. Lakers being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and L.A. Lakers had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I think you are getting the picture. The only exception is that I don't see Webber as part of a fast moving team. I am not sure but V span , Head and Lucas may be gone in trades. Although I know it's not popular I think that Mutombo is ready for retirement. If we get Camby then Mutombo could be cheap insurance.

I am not sure how realistic Battier and Alston for Camby is but it would be awesome for the Rockets. I think Head wouldn't go in the Sac trade but he might go to the Nuggets in the Camby trade to add a shooter. They get a point guard, a 3 pt specialist, and super role player. It might just happen. I have a wierd feeling that Lewis is going to be a Rocket, not gonna lie, just a feeling. Plus there is at least a rumor about him coming plus in the Hayes Barbershop thread there was mention that Lewis might want to come here...who knows.
However Camby would be amazing and the Artest trade I hope is something that will SPLASH come draft night. I don't think Williams will come for the MLE but if Francis is bought out than we can sign him for the LLE and still have the MLE to work with. We could use the MLE for Darko or maybe Nocioni (stretch). If we got Camby though we would be set. I will now wait for a Camby to Houston rumor much like I waited for a Lewis and an Artest to Houston rumor. Projected lineup

    Yao Darko
    Camby Hayes
    Artest Reed Novak
    Tmac Wells
    Francis James JL3

Wells and James off the bench give us the scoring punch we lacked off the bench last year. Darko is already good enough to give us Howard numbers, and he is only 21. And we will have two defensive studs watching out for our stars. Nuggets would have line up of-

    Nene
    Carmelo
    Battier
    AI
    Alston

Not bad...but really, they would need to know Martin could come back or it doesn't make sense for them.

Does anyone think that we should go after AK47 if we get Artest?

Is there anyone from Portland or Nets that we might be interested in? If not, then ignore this post...

Portland is going to have Oden, Alridge, Roy, so what they are missing is a veteran point guard that can guide the young group and lead them to success. So I think they should consider some kind of trade to get Jason Kidd from NJ Nets... (Kidd was on the trading block during the season, so I think it's possible if the price is right)

Is anyway we can step into this and make a 3 team trade?

AK47 is too expensive for what he offers.. And if we do get Artest, which is about $8 Million/year, then by adding AK47, that would cost Rockets about $56+ Million for just the starting five? That doesn't really make sense from a money stand point..

I wouldn't mind getting RJ back. Heck, I wouldn't even mind LaMarcus Aldridge.
