    Straight from the Houston Chronicle:

"Team president Larry Bird said O'Brien will help shape the roster this summer. Bird has said he is willing to trade anyone on the team, including All-Star forward Jermaine O'Neal."

"O'Brien said the Pacers need to add shooters because he likes the 3-point shot. He said he wants the team to get the ball past halfcourt in 3 seconds or fewer, a departure from Carlisle's slower, structured style."

Before I post this 4 team trade let me say these things first:

    1) I don't want to trade Battier, unless it leads to a major improvement in the team. I just really like Battier.

    2) I believe that T-Mac's trade value is as high as it'll ever be, given his deteriorating back. He had a good year last year, but imo, it's only going to get worse.

    3) I believe this team needs to be built around Yao. Yao will never disrespect T-Mac by trying to take over the leadership role of this team. In spite of the fact that Yao is very passive, I truely believe that he can become the unquestioned leader of this team. Dream was not a vocal leader either, but he led by example.

Having said this, here's a 4 team trade that I put together. In this scenario, I assumed that Rashard will get a 1st year contract similar to what he opt'd out of. Let me know what you think & the why/why not it will/will not work.

Houston sends T-Mac/V.Span/conditional future #1 pick to Chicago.
    Houston sends Battier/Head to Toronto.
Houston sends Sura/#26 pick to Seattle.

Seattle sends Ray Allen/Rashard (resigned) to Houston.
Seattle sends #2 pick to Chicago.
Seattle sends #31 pick to Toronto.

    Toronto sends Garbajosa/Calderon to Houston.

Chicago sends Ben Wallace/Gordon/#9 pick to Seattle.
Chicago sends #49 pick to Toronto.
Chicago sends #51 pick to Houston.

As a result of this trade, each team ends up with:

    Houston
    Ray Allen (SG)
    Rashard Lewis (SF)
    Jorge Garbajosa (PF)
    Jose Calderon (PG)
    #51 pick

    Seattle
    Ben Wallace (PF/C)
    Ben Gordon (SG)
    Bob Sura (PG/SG) expiring contract
#9 pick (Julian Wright, Joakim Noah, Hawes)
#26 pick (Marcus Williams, Morris Almond)

    Toronto
    Battier (SG/SF)
    Head (PG/SG)
    #31 pick (Sean Williams PF/C)
    #49 pick

    Chicago
    T-Mac (SG/SF)
    V.Span (PG)
#2 pick (Oden, Durant, Wright, Jianlian)
    Future #1 pick from Houston

I know, it won't happen. But, what if it did?

 Wow, I have no idea why Seattle would do this. They are giving up their 2 best players (I know Lewis opts out), and the #2 pick for pretty much garbage besides the Ben Gordon, and MAYBE the #9 pick (depending on who drops there). Ben Wallace's contract is ridiculous for what he offers, and IIRC, he's close to 30 and most likely going downhill from here. This trade doesn't really do much for Seattle. It doesn't make them any closer to being a contender, nor does it give them a strong foundation to rebuild.

Man tell me something... To whom would Kidd pass the ball to on a fast break?..... Only Jefferson? Also... now we have a team with <38% 3pter average.....

Is it you're only 10 or is it you have memory shortfall? Why did Tmac leave Toronto!??!!

Okay, if you guys really love the idea trading with Nets, here's the ONLY 2 sensible senarios:

    Case 1: THE DEAL 2007

    Tmac for Carter

Yes, I'm serious... let me explain
    - Carter can shoot 3s just like Tmac.
    - Carter is not playing extremely well alongside Jefferson.
    - Carter can attack the rim much much more which makes him an IDEAL
player to fit into Adelman's offence (where Yao finds him from the top for SLAMS).
    - Carter FIGHTS every game, brings intensity to the game (this is where Yao/Tmac combo lacks).

    Case 2: THE FIRE POWER
Luther / Kirk Snyder (and Hayes) for Jefferson/Boone

Why? Because the Nets need some 3 point shooters!!! We trade away Luther but we still have Battier (44% 3pt shooter).

    Imagine our line up with
    Yao / Dike
    Bonne / Battier / Hayes
    Jefferson / Battier / Snyder
Tmac / Mike James / Luther
    Francis / VSpan / Rafer

God it'll be a win-win in either of the above 2 cases!!!

NJ has a severe lack of big men. No way will they get rid of Boone.

I know, we don't really care about Boone. They can throw in anyone with Jefferson. Don't you remember the possibility of Battier-for-Wilcox?? How about:

    Yao / Dike
    Wilcox / Hayes
    Jefferson / Snyder /
    Tmac / Mike James
    Vspan / Rafer / Francis

Yet there's a major BooBoo in this line up --- no 3pt threat!

So I say let's not trade Battier for Wilcox. Since we have enough Firepower in

    Yao / Dike
    Battier/ Hayes
    Jefferson / Snyder
    Tmac / James
    Vspan / Rafer / Francis

Can someone figure out how to trade for a good PF from this rooster? We might have to give up Mike James! He'd be a liability if fighting for ball control with Tmac/Vspan/Rafer/Francis!!!

Guys I love this line up soooo much where we got dunkers:
    Jefferson / Tmac / Snyder / Francis
This is VIOLENT to any other Western Team!!! This team would totally kill the Mavs and a MATCH for the Spurs!! I see Francis D up on Parker and Jefferson dunking back on Ginobilli or Howard!!!

Now, please find a PF who can shoot 3 ponters so we can trade using MikeJames!!! And get rid of Bonzi for another combo forward!!!

Now, I'd like to sign Francis if he was bought out and was cheap, but have you ever watched him on defense? At all?

No Power Forward to shoot 3s !!!
We need a tall, athletic and strong Power Forward to help near the basket, he should be......
a] a great rebounder at both ends
b] he should be great at Putbacks
c] A power force in our defensive scenario.
If we have this player in place playing alonside Yao Ming then Yao's effectiveness will improve about 50%.
At present this player doesn't play on our Roster!! :p

Imagine a PF who was athletic and tall enough to average double digit rebounds and defend post up PF's, quick enough to defend perimeter forwards like Dirk and Marion AND able to post up, hit the three or put the ball on the floor...now imagine Lamar Odom in a Rockets jersey.

I can't see any realistic trades scenarios out there so i can't really see it happening. But in the offensive system that is about to be introduced, Odom is the perfect fit IMO.

these all work using the ESPN trade machine:

    1) Michael Redd + Villanueva for T-Mac (+ Head if necessary)
    2) Ray Allen + Wilcox + Watson for T-Mac + JuHo + Head
    3) Marion + Barbosa for T-Mac (+ Head if necessary)
    4) Marion + Barbosa + James Jones for T-Mac + JuHo (+Head if necessary)

    5) Kobe + Kwame for T-Mac + JuHo/Battier + Sura/Rafer

Why there is always Tracy? Maybe you should think about Yao?

Guys be serios. We need to trade guys like Rafer, Juwan maybe Battier (if we have a good option) but we won't trade them with our superstars

we have an entire country watching us b/c of Yao. Les would never pull the plug on that kind of revenue/attention. the rockets will let go of tracy before anything happens to Yao, believe me.

    and i am serious.
