Disclaimer: I was just playing with the espn trade machine and this worked. I'm not advocating the Rockets make this trade. I like Tracy. I like Shane. But... I do think this potential trade/daydream is interesting. Would the Rockets do it? Would the Suns? Would the Lakers? What do you guys think?

    ROCKETS

    Outgoing

    Tracy McGrady (to LAL)
    Shane Battier (to LAL)
    Luther Head (to PHX)

    Incoming

    Shawn Marion
    Leandro Barbosa
    Raja Bell

    SUNS

    Outgoing

    Shawn Marion (to HOU)
    Leandro Barbosa (to HOU)
    Raja Bell (to HOU)

    Incoming

    Kobe Bryant
    Vladimir Radmanovic
    Luther Head

    LAKERS

    Outgoing

    Kobe Bryant (to PHX)
    Vladimir Radmanovic (to PHX)

    Incoming

    Tracy McGrady
    Shane Battier

Leaving the starting fives looking like:

    ROCKETS

    Yao
    Hayes/Howard
    Marion
    Bell
    Barbosa

    SUNS

    Amare
    Diaw
    Vlad Rad
    Kobe
    Nash

    LAKERS

    Bynum
    Kwame
    Shane
    T-Mac
    Parker

I'm not sure if any of these teams would go for this, but stranger things have happened. Sure would give us that "Phoenix-style" offense Les is craving though. ;)

And another one, this time we get Kobe

    ROCKETS

    In

    Kobe, Marcus Banks

    Out

Tracy McGrady, Shane Battier, Luther Head

    SUNS

    In

    Tracy, Vlad Rad, Luther

    Out

    Marion, Barbosa, Marcus Banks

    LAKERS

    In

    Marion, Barbosa, Battier

    Out

    Kobe, Vlad Rad

some swapping of draft picks would have to be taken into consideration as well.

    Lineups

    Rockets

    Yao
    Hayes/Howard
    Snyder?
    Kobe
    Banks/Rafer

    Suns

    Amare
    Diaw
    Bell
    T-Mac
    Nash

    Lakers

    Bynum
    Marion
    Battier
    Odom (can he do it?)
    Barbosa

Once again this worked on espn trade machine, but I'm not advocating the rockets make this trade. All this does is turn Phoenix into a beast. Wonder if Nash could get tracy past the first round?

Anyway, I'll shut up now. flame away.....

PS. In the first scenario I forgot Odom when I listed LA's starters. Revised Lineup:

    Bynum
    Odom
    Shane
    T-Mac
    Parker

Still not a very good team... :D

How about Rafer for Barbosa? I hate Barbosa but he's young, so quick and he can shoot the 3s. So what do you think about it?

    Joke?

Why would Phoenix want Rafer at all and why would they want to give up the 6th man of the year?

RealGM is reporting that Jermaine O'Neal is available. Since Kobe Bryant is just blowing smoke up everybody's behinds to gain attention and isn't going to be moved, why not move T-Mc and our 1st rounder for JO and Shawne Williams. Then buy Boston's early second rounder. Works for me.

Can there be any possibility of getting Shawne Williams for the 26th pick or is that too fanciful?

Are you kiding me? In this way you would have 2 dominates player in the paint but you would be too weak on the preimeter.

    THE BEST TRADE EVER

    Houston from Indiana
    Ike Diogu
    Marquis Daniels

    Indiana from Houston
    Luther Head
    Bob Sura's Contract
    Kirk Snyder

    Works on ESPN's trade machine

We get our power forward, who can rebound and has more offensive game than Chuck. We also get a decent bench player in Marquis Daniels.

Indiana gets Luther as their centerpiece, but more importantly, all of them are on their last year of their contract.

We then draft best available player regardless of position. A PG to backup Rafer or a scorer to come off the bench (Almond).

    Would you do this trade?

    Rockets get:
    Ike Diogu PF
    Marquis Daniels SG

    Pacers get:
    Luther Head SG
    Kirk Snyder SF
    Bob Sura's contract

We need a bigger power forward, and Diogu, while not the prototype 6'10, is a solidly built 6'8 PF with some offensive skills and is a better rebounder down low than Chuck. May not get the hustle rebounds that Chuck is so well known for, but that last play against Utah killed us. Diogu coulda gotten it. Has good hands and isn't a butterfingers like Hayes used to be. Good at the free throw line as well. He doesn't run the floor as quickly as Chuck does, but it's good for a guy at 255lbs. Has range out to college 3. Not to mention he's a Texas boy.

Marquis Daniels is a good backup SG that is a better slasher than he is a shooter. Only problem is...he can't seem to stay healthy for long. No worries though, this trade was intended to get Ike Diogu. Daniels just evens the salaries. Has 2 years left on his contract at around $6.5 million.

Indiana has a bunch of SF types, but not alot of good SG's that can actually shoot. Luther would be a nice addition to their team.

Snyder would replace Daniels on their roster, but he's mainly in to even salaries.

Sura's contract should be pretty valuable. Not to mention, Snyder's contract is up as well. Gives them about $6 million in dumpable salaries. Luther's is up as well, but they'll resign him.

We can then draft Morris Almond or a PG.

So we get our PF, and Indiana gets a SG and a bunch of expiring contracts. The only thing getting in the way is Jermaine O'Neal's status with the team. If he goes, then Diogu isn't going anywhere. Does it sound like a fair deal, and would you do it?

Works on the ESPN trade machine

You do realize that if it's a "best ever trade" for us then it's probably not going to work for Indy, right?

    Hell, get real.

why wouldnt they? they have a lack of shooters, theyre over the cap, marquis daniels was a huge disappointment for them and takes up $6.5 million for 2 more years. they traded harrington and jackson for diogu, dunleavy, and troy and are stuck with their 2 fat contracts for the next 4 years or so.

diogu played 14 minutes a game for them
    daniels has recurring knee tendonitis

he only played in 17 games in which he got more than 15 minutes of playing time after the trade to the pacers. he was in a pacers uni for 47 games. 9 times did he play over 20 minutes.

if jermaine oneal stays with the team, i dont see why they wouldnt trade him. they have enough front court players. murphy, foster, o'neal, granger, williams...dunleavy is their starting SG...

Since we are dealing with UNREALITY here and the Pistons seem to be tired of Sheeds act and Billups will probably bolt....I think he'll be a Laker for some weird reason........lets do this!

Rasheed Wallace for Jho, Alston, and Head.

    Let the optimism begin! :)
