    New Jersey Trade Breakdown

    Outgoing

    Jason Kidd
    6-4 PG from California
    13.0 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.7 minutes

    Incoming

    Houston's 1st round draft pick 2007

    Juwan Howard
    6-9 PF from Michigan
    9.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 26.6 minutes

    Rafer Alston
    6-2 PG from Frenso State
    13.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.4 apg in 37.0 minutes

    Bob Sura
    6-5 from Florida State
No games yet played in 2006/07

    Luther Head
    6-3 PG from Illinois
    10.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.4 apg in 27.6 minutes
Change in team outlook: +20.9 ppg, +4.2 rpg, and +0.2 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and New Jersey being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Jersey had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    ------

Then sign on Francis after he gets cut by New York. Then sign on Webber (or McDyess, or, if all else fails, P.J. Brown).

    PG: Kidd (36), Francis (8), Spanoulis (4)
    SG: T-Mac (30), Francis (18)
    SF: Battier (36), T-Mac (4), Novak (8)
    PF: Webber (30), Hayes (18)
    C: Ming (36), Mutombo (8), Tsakalidis (4)

Bench minutes to Snyder and some vet min. PF we'd get to round out the roster and some athletic SF/PF minimum guy.

Dalembert can play PF, and I'd guess he could do it well. No offensive game? Talk to Chuck Hayes. It'd be like going out there with a Yao / Marcus Camby frontcourt. Dalembert is Camby (when healthy) lite, imo. Given his athleticism, he should be able to slide into the PF spot.

I'd rather have Elton Brand, too. But I don't see a better realistic option at PF.

Assuming both Yao and Dalembert stay healthy, you also address, partly your backup center issue.

Shane Battier, Rafer Alston, and Luther Head for
    Larry Hughes and Donyell Marshall.

This would work for us, because we are obviously in need of a pg that's a playmaker, and Marshall is a decent PF. The Cavs need better shooters, and Shane Battier is a shooter along with Luther head, and Rafer Alston is also a..... well It'll work

Also we get Francis for nothing...That's generally what happens when you sign someone with the LLE and the MLE...you don't lose players when you sign someone else...futhermore...can you think of a better package we could offer than Sura,Head, Snyder or 1st Pick...they can cut Sura and get about 5 mil deducted off the cap which puts them under...they get Head who is our 6th man last year... and they get either a project in Snyder or a 1st round pick... they clear money...pick up two young players with considerably better attitudes...as much of a reach as that is...I think it is a possibility that looks good from the King's perspective...

I guess people ignored this tid bit at the start of the thread. I think if you tried most of these trades on the 360 or PS3, even the game would laugh it's a** off at you.

If Dalembert can play PF effectively against athletic teams they I would agree, although I think Philadelphia could get much more value out of Dalembert than what you're offering.

    How about this trade?

    Sura + 26 pick

    for

    Marcus Banks + 24th + (optional 29th pick)

Phoenix - dumps Banks who was not right for their system and get an expiring contract. One less draft pick to pay for them and save 13 million dollars over the next 2 years from Marcus Banks contract.

Rockets - We love this trade because we move up and get a decent backup pg for a semi-retired Bob Sura. Move up to the 24th spot. The icing on the cake would be if Morey can muster that 29th pick away from Phoenix if they have cold feet about paying draft picks.

Awesome trade for us and makes sense for them too in terms of financial flexibility.

What's with the Marcus Banks fascination? I guess hes a little bit better shooter overall than Rafer, but otherwise doesn't seem like much of an improvement.

Banks is not suppose to replace Rafer but he is a better backup than Luther Head playing the point guard position. Head needs to move over to the 2 guard. Also we move up 2 positions in the draft and maybe just maybe Phoenix gives us a free pick. All for what a an expiring Bob Sura contract. I say make this trade any given day of the week.

two big contradictions there...we need a pg thats a playmaker, and jarry hughes is NOT that

AND, the cavs need better shooters, so they give up their best one in donyell marshall?

Opportunity cost though. Can Sura + pick get us something better? Banks comes with 4 years left on his contract...that's a long time.

A backup PG at 3 mil a year is a great pickup. Also don't forget we would SWAP picks with Phoenix and move up 2 positions in the draft. That alone makes this trade worth it and if we could snatch that 29th pick from Phoenix then I'm all for it.

Hell yeah I would support this trade. We get a solid PF and rid ourselves of Juwan once and for all. Someone get Pat Riley on the phone.

Why would Miami do this? You are overvalueing Luther.

I see your logic. But considering Banks lack of hardly any playing time this year, the fact that we still ahve to do something with JLIII and V0Span contracts, and that Banks contract has some length on it, I would see if there are any better opportunities out there first...but I wouldn't bee sad to see us get something out of Sura, no doubt.

Raef LaFrentz & Portland's four 2nd round draft picks.
    -for-
Juwan, Sura (waivable for 1M), Lucas (waivable for 500k).
*Rockets add c.320k to the Rockets c.60M payroll with six roster places open.
*Blazers save c3.8M this season, then 5.4M the next.

With four 2nd rounders Rockets could improve their first round pick
    *Acie Law
    *Rudy Fernandez
    *Marco Belinelli

If not draft all four of their 2nd rounders. Some interesting names possibly in the 2nd round.
    *Brandon Rush
    *Morris Almond
    *Sean Williams
    *Brad Newley
    *Glen Davis
    *Herbert Hill
    *Petteri Koponen

LaFrentz has had injury concerns but for the past 3 season's he's been in full health. Two seasons ago in Boston Raef was wreaking havoc against the Rockets with his quickness and 3P shooting. Raef's 3P shooting, quickness, and shotblocking is everything the Rocks want next to Yao.

The 5 draft picks should leave enough room for the Rockets with salary space to use the MLE on a PG without breaking the LT threshold.

    Alston (MLE/ Mo Williams) Spanoulis
    McGrady Head (26th pick)
    Battier Snyder (37th pick)
    (LaFrentz) (Hayes) Novak
Yao (LaFrentz) (Hayes) (42nd pick) (52nd pick) excess:(53rd pick)

Portland would take this deal in a heartbeat.

I just wanted to say while many of the players that many posters are trying to trade for are flawed in some way, given what we have trade, that is the best we have a chance to get. We're trying to improve certain positions, and getting the perfect fit will not happen when we are offering up Howard, Rafer, Head & Lucas.
