Why? Oden needs like 4 more years to mature. Why does everyone always get so butt happy around Oden. He's not that good yet!

The rockets will not trade Yao ...like you said Les is a businessman. Also, I don't think Les wants a run and gun team, only a team who can play offense efficiently enough to not put everyone to sleep.

On the trade: three good players and a draft pick for one nba superstar doesnt work unless your team is rebuilding...which the rockets are not. I do like each of those guys individually but yao would generate more value.

I look for guys with decent contracts that may have a low trade value. Take a guy like Artest. I dont think you could order a better fit for the rox. he can create himself a shot, he's super tough, but a bit of a knuckle-head and a hell of a defender. If the Rox are to get a guy like him, they would have to give up a shorter contarct and take one back.

Artest and SAR for Battier,Howard and Head or the 1st rd draft pick. The Rox would get back SAr to play the 4 and has 2yrs more than Howard at mle plus Artest. The Kings get rid of Artest and get a great team guy in Battier, plus howards deal is 2yrs shorter plus a young tradeable asset like head. After this i would package Sura and Snyder for either Marquise or antonio daniels. Tell Bonzi to come back and offer the mle to Darko. The team has more atheletes and more scorers, not just spot up shooters.

Tmac + Howard = 26 million next season almost 30 million the season after that one.

I feel like I'm getting ripped off at a used car dealership.

I'll take anyone. 30 million is half the cap.

Not saying any Rockets would do this, but can you restructure contracts in the NBA? I hear about it happening in the NFL alot.

I been looking at the playoffs and around the league for young players who are on good teams, but will not an opportunity to play. Example Marcus Banks in Phoenix, big strong fast guard, can't run the Suns, but could possible be able to come here and be productive. (For Sura Expiring Contract) I know as fans we want to get the big names but unfortunately we don't have the cap space. If you look at the Spurs (Why I want Mario as the coach) they hit on there draft choices. They pick up quality free agents to fit into there system and play a role. Another example for a backup center is Nazhr Mohammed, he doesn't get a sniff off Detroit's bench. I think Mo Williams and Matt Barnes, Nocioni have priced themselves out of the MME with great regular seasons and playoff pushes. Pietrus would be interesting but he's just like Kirk Snyder an athlete. But I think the Rockets can fill there short comings that way.

Can the Rockets really get a significant talent upgrade without trading Yao or TMac? Frankly, I don't think so. Defining what an "upgrade" is will prove even more challenging. The Rockets need more than a tweeking, and trading one of the big two is likely the only way that is going to happen. Scary, though.

The question of whether TMac and Yao play better apart than together is an issue in itself. I don't know what the numbers look like, but my impression is they play better apart.

I would love to see us make a blockbuster trade...

If it was very one sided in our favor! :D

My feelings exactly. T-Mac is best when driving and Yao takes up the lane. Trading T-Mac would be optimal if you could get building blocks for a champion. The real question is how much could you get for him. I haven't looked at the salaries, but I think a trade that might work for both teams is Jason Terry and Josh Howard for T-Mac. Cuban just went out in the first round and adding T-Mac is the kind of bold move that excites him. He has Devin Harris to take over the point. Nowitski prefers the outside and would be a perfect compliment to T-Mac.

For the rockets, Jason Terry can push the ball and shoot from outside. Josh Howard is a rebound machine and gets a lot of weak-side blocks. We would get younger and faster with a PG that can knock down outside shots which is a must with Yao in the game. We could still use an athletic and TALL PF, maybe we could shop Rafer and Battier to fill that need.

I would say the chances of making a trade with one of our Divisional Rivals is next to zero.

I like the trade, but ... honestly I hope I'll never see T-Mac in a Mavericks shirt! :(

Probably right. I hate all these unspoken rules. Why should anything be off the table when it's been 10 years since we got out of the first round? I just hope we don't continue to tweak our roster with another set of has-beens and never-were's.

Howard would be nice, but I would prefer Harris over Terry assuming dallas would go for it. Nowitzski for Tmac also has some potential since Dirk flamed in the first round. But without Harris or some other quality PG coming to the rockets it wouldn't improve us significantly. I do think TMac is the more desireable of our stars to trade due to his back problems. I also consider TMac to have pretty much peaked in potential, where Yao still has room for growth. Not to mention that Yao has vastly greater marketing world wide which I am sure plays a factor for Les. That being said I tend to agree that any major trade with Dallas is unlikely.

I actually don't think we can get equal trade value for T-Mac. We might actually get a great deal for Yao, but I think Les would veto any trade of Yao giving the marketing $. That being said in order to be contenders without Les going into luxury tax land, we will have to trade one or the other.

Some other trades that seem at least remotely possible to me would be:

T-Mac for Mike Bibby and Ron Artest.
T-Mac for Igoudala and Andre Miller
T-Mac for Kirk Hindrick, Tyrus Thomas, PJ Brown (if contract is expiring)
T-Mac for Michael Redd, re-signed Mo Williams
T-Mac for Rashard Lewis, Luke Ridnour, Collison
T-Mac for Elton Brand, Correy Maggette

That's another trade I would do without hesitation. Howard is a beast and Terry can shoot.

    Houston Trades:

    T-Mac
    Shane Battier

    Seattle Trades:

    Ray Allen
    Rashard Lewis

Naturally, Seattle would only do this if they felt like Lewis was going to sign elsewhere leaving them with nothing in return.

If Lewis' contract were to be in the 12 mil range, which would necessitate more out of Houstons end, we also have Sura's expiring to make it happen.

Having T-Mac on their roster as opposed to Ray Allen would make the team more attractive if, in fact, the Sonics are going to be sold.

I'd do it in a second, but I don't think the Sonics would.

expanding on my previous post, if we are intent on blowing this thing up and tweaking the roster to it's fullest.

    Resign: Chuck Hayes and Tsak.

    Sign: Francis for LLE

    Sign: Grant Hill > MLE

In lieu of the Artest Rumor:

    Howard
    Head
    Snyder
    #26 pick

    for

    Artest
    Garcia

    Line-up:

    Alston
    Allen
    Lewis
    Artest
    Yao

    back-up:

    guards: Francis, V-Span, Garcia
    forwards: Hill, Hayes, Novak,
    C: Tsak
