The Rafer trade is about locker room leadership too.

Maybe, but Yao was coming from a completely different culture, and Rafer and Tmac had more experience in the league and Yao differed to them, now I think the org is sending a clear message that it is HIS team.

I doubt they made this trade without first getting his approval....don't you?

do you think he has the stones to say no?

    He is passive agressive.

I doubt they asked for his approval. If they did I doubt he would say no because of his personality.

A leader is always a leader. You can't force a player into it or move people to turn a player into one. Chances are a player in his prime who has never been a leader will never be one.

SIDE NOTE: I think its hilarious how people turn every transaction/news into what they want to believe. Rafer gets traded and somehow it was because he had problems with Tracy and was standing in Yao's way of being a leader.

Yao has alot more stones than ya think...This year he has been mouthing off alot more to the media about the teams play or lack there of. One thing yao does is lead by example. Plays hard and plays the game the right way..That to me is a true leader not someone whos gonna run his mouth...Only thing Yao needs to learn is what Hakeem perfected GIVE ME THE BALL..

I guess the rockets needed to move either Rafer or Artest to solve the locker room issue. They asked Yao, and Yao said he wanted Artest to stay.

man when yao can play in the all start game and command the ball i'll believe he can be the leader of the team...right now i can see him as the star of the team and solid contributer but not the guy who runs the show

you may be confused by my logic but i don't think being the star of the team has to mean you are the leader of the team and vica versa

Taking away Rafer doesn't make Yao the leader, it just means they have no clear leader now.

So the locker room issue is actually between Mac and Rafer?

With leaders like that, who's keeping track of the FG%s?

According to everyone who claims to have insider information T-mac was the locker room problem so don't get why management would choose between Ron and Skip to choose.

I don't think they had problems.

This trade certainly doesn't say that. Why would they trade Rafer because him and T-mac had locker room problems when T-mac is out for the season.

I still think this locker room thing is overblown. Just a bunch of frustrated guys because they didn't live up to expectations. From the way this message board acts you would think they were really fighting in the locker room.

Tmac was not the locer room problem. He was a victim.

Rafer is full of himself and interfered with Adelman's ability to coach.
