if you need one more reason to stay with 1.5, d/l the super smash bros. port from pspupdates.com. that game is really good for a homebrew. i think honestly i will upgrade later (the browser is too nice not to) but for now, this game rocks.
I must be an idiot, cause I cannot for the life of me figure out how to upgrade from 1.52 to 2.0 version. I tried the instructions posted, but cannot create the subdirectory............ oh well........ Is there like a dummies version for psp.....
I got mine up and running last night. The only problem I had was with the DNS and I got it fixed when I figured out I was looking in the wrong place. My new PSP wallpaper:
Sweet, I should have my PSP in a 3-5 days... and that puppy is gonna be mine too. I know it's unoriginal, but that is just too damned good.
FYI if you search some of the popular torrent sites (isohunt, torrentspy, torrentportal, etc) you can easily find huge collections of NES, SNES, GameBoy, Genesis and other older system ROMs. I downloaded a file with over 3400 GameBoy games and over 700 NES games. Techmo Super Bowl is the bomb... damn you Bo Jackson!!!
Try 10050 NES and 17000 SNES But, I'm almost willing to give it up if the Web browser is all it's said to be so far.
i'm having a tough time deciding what to do. i want to upgrade but i also don't want to lose the option of emulation which i actually havent used yet. i only have the memory card that came with it which seems like it might be too small to do anything with these homebrew programs. that wallpaper is badass btw.
You don't have to use Homebrew if you have the small memory card. For instance if you just want to use old NES games use the NesterJ emulator and the games. Homebrew has emulators for like every system out there that just takes up space, you can also use Homebrew and just install the emulator folders you want, you don't have to copy all of them. As far as the game ROMs go, they are usually only about 100k each for NES, so you can pack a load of NES Roms with NesterJ on your stock 32MB card. You should give it a shot, the setup is simple... it is simply drag and drop, takes two minutes to get rolling.
thanks for the advice, i set it up and have been messing around with it for the last couple hours. i can't believe i've had this thing almost 2 months and haven't installed emulators till now. that smash bros. port is badass as well. the psp forum i went to seems to think a mod chip is going to be necessary to hack into 2.0 so i don't i'll be upgrading atleast until the new grand theft auto comes out. i'd rather use a bootleg browser than give up all these free games.
I figured it out, I'm not an idiot!!!! I was able to upgrade.... Oh forget it, I am still an idiot (might as well say it before somebody else does).
anyone got those rocket wallpapers that were on here before i finally got my PSP from the person that bought it for me as a gift a month later than my birthday but finally got it up and running and want to get the full effect. I actually got it yesterday and after putting in the game they bought me (NBA Street) i noticed i had a dead pixel. So i took it back today and got a new one and picked up the Madden for the system. Gonna upgrade to 2.0 in a bit...dont' feel like hacking my crap at the moment. So if anyone has those backgrounds i would greatly appreciate it being posted again. Definently the Hakeem and Shaq one.
Anybody else have Madden? I pre-ordered it from EA and was supposed to get it last Fri, but the damn hurricane f'd that up. A lot of people are bashing this game. I think its pretty cool. The drops are rediculous on it but the mini games are cool. I havn't started a season yet, but I've heard it has some major gliches, such as freezing and shutting down randomly. Another hint for those who have it..turn off the commentary, the game will run a lot faster! Another game I recommend is Burnout Legends. I'm not a big racing game guy, but this one is pretty fun. Next up NBA Live 06 and GTA: LCS
I actually picked up madden a few minutes ago when i posted and was playing my first game. A lot of people are bashing it becasue of it's slow load times in certain game modes...mainly online and franchise because there is so much information. I just played a game and really liked it...But a few things. Running - Way too easy to stop on a dime and change directions and stuff and get major yardage. Passing...they drop WAYYYYY too many balls. I don't know how many time AJ was wide open and he dropped the ball. Definently a bit more arcadish compared to console version but for being on a portable system it's definently worth it and fun to play.
I haven't had the chance to play it yet, but it sounded like Madden turned out to be pretty good, at least for a portable game. There were some issues, like you guys mentioned (load times, slightly different play style, etc.), but the fact that it is so close to the console versions makes it pretty awesome, at least IMO. Maybe Madden 07 will be a little better once EA learns to fix these issues...or maybe not... I've read great things about BO:Legends as well, and GTA:LCS is looking awesome. I'm really interested in seeing how Rockstar was able to get a console GTA-style game to work on the PSP. The game looks at least as good as GTA 3, if not better, and there's not supposed to be too many load times (ala the console versions). I think I read the game also has 100+ hours of gameplay. I will have to bow down to Rockstar if they were able to get all that to work with an acceptable battery life on the PSP. Needless to say, the PSP will have a nice September, October, and November as far as sells go.
My PSP has been collecting dust for a while, I accidentally erased all my Hot Shots and Coded Arms memory. Too lazy to start over. Waiting for Socom and GTA to come out. Can anyone help me out with getting an emulator on my PSP. I would love to put as many NES and SNES games on it as possible. Super Tecmo Bowl, ExciteBike, Contra, NinjaTurtles, even all the marios would be fun as hell.
