What can or can't you do? And, what would you like to do? Last time someone bought me dinner... well, let's just say it was difficult to walk the next day, OK?
That was a pretty interesting event really, even for us that are not pirates. From what I read, this can help out those people who were trying to make their own software run off the PSP memory sticks. Since Wipeout is one of the games, apparently they can look at the code that creates the web browser, meaning there could possibly be a web browser that runs of the memory stick pretty soon. Plus all that other goodness (EX:Emulators) may be more of a possibility now. It kind of surprised me how big some of the games were. I was thinking that there may be some games that would easily use up the 1.8 GB UMDs, but it seems that it may not be as easy as I thought. Here's some pics from the Burnout game for the PSP (Burnout Legends): More info here: http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3140088&did=1 After seeing Ridge Racer on the PSP, I wonder how Burnout will be, especially if it isn't limited to 222MHz.
Go to File..then Convert Files..You'll have two list, as your destination list, select MP3. Highlight what songs you want converted, then press start.
I will be getting a PSP this Saturday. Has anyone tried playing the games in Ad-Hoc mode? I will have the following games: Metal Gear Acid Lumines Untold Legends Hot Shots Golf Are any of the above games playable over the internet? I think it would be fun to play against some people on the BBS. B
I don't think this has been posted yet, but there is a new update comming out this week for the PSP, and its a big one! The PSP will now have a Web Browser. I know we could do this with Wipeout, but this is a legit browser. Take a look here and see what else is being updated. Better video, ATRAC3, wallpaper, among some other cool stuff. There is no North American date for the update, but Japan is getting it on Wed, and in the past the US update has only been a couple of days behind.
So are you just not going to buy any more games? I hear they are going to put updates on future games..making you update in order to play them. Emulators are cool and all, but it seems that you'd be missing out on a lot.
But how long until somebody comes up with a program that will trick the new games into thinking there is updated firmware on the PSP? Or just releasing a hacked version of the game. Plus I'm addicted to Lumines and would be happy never buying another PSP game.
IIRC, there was something about a way to flash the firmware and make a 1.51 or 1.50. I thought it said it could do this in any version, but not sure about that. To be honest, I can't remember most of the details on the technique/device. I just remember that they also mentioned an adapter for the PSP that would take virtually any mass storage device. Not sure how either of these ideas have come along since then, but I remember reading something about it. Maybe wesnesked or someone else who has been reading a lot about the homebrew scene knows more about this. Another great thing showed during the conference besides those features was the new white PSP, which is probably better for smudges and fingerprints: Not really important for us that already have PSP's (unless we want one PSP for PSP games and one for homebrew), but that's something to think about for those who are still thinking about buying one. It will probably be a while before it hits the US though; it won't hit Japan until 9/15, and it technically hasn't been confirmed for the US, IIRC. BTW, I picked on some of the screens of the game, but the Madden PSP game doesn't look to bad in motion. It might be worth checking out: http://media.psp.ign.com/media/727/727130/vids_1.html
screw the white version. i like my psp to be anti-ipod. my psp has the 1.5 firmware, and although it's nice to be able to run all kinds of stuff on it, the web browser looks really good. i saw a vid of it off of ign.com and you can actually d/l stuff off the web and onto your psp. it's great to run hacks, homebrews, and emulators and what not, but 1. most of the emulators run slow or make you switch the psp back to the 333mhz setting and that could have issues later on (battery issues, burnt up psp, etc) 2. there's not any real programs that are of use (though this could change if someone manages to develop their own web browser program) i'll still keep my 1.5 firmware when 2.0 releases. but if there aren't any more promising homebrews/hacks for it, and if i have to update for madden or nba live or any game i want, then so be it.
Has anyone tried the update yet? Here are a few pages that go in depth about the new things you can do with 2.0 and how to get it. Sample The Web Russell Beattie.com On the Russell Beattie page right under the picture of his page on his PSP is the link to the "official upgrade file" anlong with the instuctions to update. I'm going to update as soon as I get home this afternoon.
I upgraded...but I don't have a wireless router (might pick one up today) to get online with it. The wall paper feature is pretty cool though. This update really does make the PSP a total media device. With th update and some pretty good looking games comming out in the next 3 months (GTA, Burnout, Madden) the PSP could be a big seller this X-mas.
That would be fun to chill in a coffee shop with the PSP browse the web - play game (or two). Might have to go grab one of those things...
I'm very reluctant to give up my "homebrew" stuff at the moment. Currently I can (while having to jump through some hoops) browse the web, change the wallpaper/etc on my PSP. There are some sites which I can't browse too well yet on PSP, so until that gets fixed, I won't update. It's damn tempting though.
I'll be picking one of these up in the next week or so... the new browser update sold me on it. Selling my 20GB iPod and PS2 on eBay to get the cash for it... will buy a 1GB memory stick and BAM better then an iPod mini. I love the fact that it is good for more then just games. I'm looking forward to Burnout Legends which comes out in October and I've played MLB which is suprisingly a good game. Are there any worthwhile "shooters" for the PSP? The IGN Madden videos looks pretty impressive, but I'd love to get my hands on a PSP version of Tekken 5 to come out...
Anyone have any information or good websites regarding the emulators? I'm not so much concerned with stealing PSP or PSX games, I want some old Nintendo/Sega games like some Super Techmo Bowl, Punch Out! or Altered Beast. I know it can be done, but google isn't helping so much... mostly useless crap. Thanks in advance.
