I doubt that Rice will be picked up by Charlotte but if they do get him will we get his 9 million dollar contract off the books? If yes would Charlotte have some money to sign a free agent when Rice's contract expires?
Yao Ming Steve Francis Cuttino Mobley Eddie Griffin Kelvin Cato Maurice Taylor James Posey Boston Nachtbar
It is only roster players at seasons end 2003-04 with contracts for 2004-05. Rice doesn't have a Rockets contract for 2004-05 so he is not part of the equation.
Who would have thought last year that Cato would be on someone's protected list? I hope the light goes off in EG's head the way it did for Cato.
francis yao mobley (if hes still in town) griffin (if hes still in town... he still has value bc hes on his rookie contract) cato (trade value is on the rise) posey (if hes still in town) morris (will be a solid role player for the rox) rice (salary slot?) on the fence: nachbar hawkins taylor (he produces good numbers but we need a pf that can play inside... plus he has a phat contract) norris (what does he do for this team? the zone has killed his game)
Here's my list of guys to protect (in order of importance): Yao Ming (obvious) Steve Francis (he's not going anywhere and he could get better) Posey (like his game alot, needs to improve shooting) Nachbar (hope he's as good as Rudy says) Mobley (always play with heart, can learn to be smarter) Cato (efficient, great defensive guy) Mo T. (he got game) Eddie Griffin (hope EG will payoff in the long term) We should keep Hawkins too but guys like him is easy to find. Tito seemed like he's got character problem. Terence Morris not going anywhere Jason Collier probably be gone by then Glen Rice ( can't stand his defense) Moochie Norris (not worth the price)
Francis Yao Hawkins Posey Cato Griff(if he's still around) Mo Tay(if he's still around) Cat(If he's still around)
I see a lot of people protecting Mo, I wouldn't just for because of his contract. I don't think Charlotte would want a high priced player that isn't all - star quality. He might be the best pla yer on their team, but it just mean less lottery balls for a couple of seasons and inabillity to make major moves. No reason they take him, so no reason to protect him.
Totally agrees. Unless Talyor gets back to his career best next season, he is not worth keeping because of his very long and expensive contract. Hopes Charlotte sees something in Moochie though -G'day-
The main reason that I keep Taylor is because he still can serve as trade bait, or that second piece of a trade, that could bring us a player we need. If we just drop him, then the potential of getting the kind of player we need in a trade drops.
Protected: Rudy T. Les Alexander Larry Smith Colin Pine Moochie Norris Jason Collier Charles Barkley Tim Charlotte can take whoever left.
