No one is complaining about air shows on military bases. They are great and the appropriate venue for such displays. trump should have simply attended one of those.

The French have a military parade every Bastille day but the U.S. has one on the Fourth of July and it's the end of the Republic. I think it's as simple as Trump attended Bastille day last year and thought, "this is cool we have a great military we should do this" - and then he told people to do it. Big deal. I don't care either way. Have the parade, don't have the parade. I'm not going to watch or won't watch much but to see the unhinged meltdowns is pretty amusing.
We are not France. If trump wanted to see tanks and other military weaponry he should simply go to back France and watch theirs again. Or he could go to countries led by military despots... they traditionally have parades with tanks and missiles to show off their might. trump would fit right in. The Independence Day facilities have traditionally been non-political and non-military. But of course trump has to go against tradition and make a military parade and a political rally out of Independence Day. Most of all, he is making America's celebration of freedom into a "all about me" celebration (featuring “an address by your favorite president, me!”). And, of course, the trump supporters have to defend even this. And you obviously do care...
It's easy to defend because there is nothing wrong with it. There is only something wrong with it because the unhinged have warped there minds into believing there is. What is wrong with having a military parade to celebrate our national holiday? The French do it. It's a very popular event. So why is it wrong if we do it? You, of course, don't have a good answer but "OraNge MaN BaD - He Do AnYtHiNg I MuSt CoMpLaIn" Yea, I don't care if the parade takes place or not. Have the parade or don't have the parade. I don't care either way.
Now we've debased ourselves into "the French do it". You could have just as easily said the Commies around the world do it.
It looks stupid and may become a political event. A day of celebration then would become a day of partisanship. But whatever, it would just be part of the new norm and hopefully most people tune out and enjoy the holiday with their friends and family.
