Yes. What America needs is less education. That would fix all of the problems.

most colleges do not need federal money. they'd be freer if they just had to answer to their shareholders.

Doesn't seem seem to be a lot of "education" going on given the answers to questions I knew off the top of my head but so called activists struggled with

That's not really a good argument about the quality of college education.

Students that attend in part because of federal loans and the GI bill disagree.

The current system is bad. Making education for profit would be an epic disaster.

The fact that you would say that might be an argument about the quality of your college education

I don't know what all was discussed for 96 pages in this thread (maybe I will read it later), but no one should be forced to resign based on their personal opinions. We should all promote free speech wherever we can, no matter how much we disagree with what is being said.

It's not about "personal opinions", it's about ensuring the safety of Jewish students, and not allowing pro Hamas terrorist supporters to take control of campuses and block others from using them.

The only way I know someone is Jewish is if they tell me or they’re wearing religious clothes. That’s it.

I agree with you in general. But with a caveat: if a business finds that an "at will" employee's public statements hurt the business, they have every right to terminate that employee. Like if a sandwich pitch man starts saying "these sandwiches aren't very good TBH. I actually lost weight via masturbation while in a Subway kitchen facility," I would expect Subway to fire him. Or if a president speaks their mind and the university watches a dramatic change in donations or student applications, etc -- boom, gone. But presidents of universities are increasingly in no-win situations. They're overpaid, but at the same time, fewer and fewer people want those jobs. Must feel like a bunch of open positions to serve as captains on Titanics.

I don't like the cancellation movements in general, whether from the left or right. I don't understand the point, other than promoting group think. And that's a major industry now in America. Create anger, preach to choirs, garner clicks, repeat. But the not-so-hidden costs of that business model are becoming increasingly apparent.

It isn't just in the South.

I live in Chicago and you cannot tell if someone is Jewish walking down the street.

There are a fair number of ancestorial Jews in Chicago, so there are a lot of traditional Jew last names - but often times people with these last names are not Jewish.
