That's such an embarrassment for Columbia U. Students have protested things for decades. Colleges have hosted many hot button speakers, even to this day. And yet somehow, the admin cannot figure out a way to let their students protest against the massacres in Gaza while still be protective off all their students. Even the most ardently pro-Zionist of students who does birthright every summer is not responsible for the bloodshed happening in Palestine or Israel.

Let the kids protest and stop expelling them because the Eye of Twitter gazed upon them. Don't tolerate hate speech either.

Don't worry, we will pay these loans off soon. Taxpayers should get a complimentary protest tent.

Expel all the pro-Hamas hate marchers. If they are on student visas, deport them.

Somehow don't think these students are taking loans.

I'd be livid if a university said I could not protest war. I get the students frustration. But I'd be equally livid if my classmates, Jewish Muslim or Hindu, faced threats for who they were just the same.

Thanks to Biden we are all paying for these kids' student loans.

These students, by and large, have nothing to do with Hamas. Painting everyone that disagrees with Israel and its actions as a terrorist or a Hamas supporter is wrong and harmful. If anything, they're probably a combination of leftists and academic types who either hate perceived imperialism through a colonizer-colonized lens or a oppressor-oppressed lens. In both cases, Israel is still the aggressor and Palestine is the victim. Is the conflict more nuanced than that? Yes. But is the discourse able to explore those not so subtle nuances? No. Because of social media, you're either a Hamas loving terrorist if you support Palestinians or a Palestinian-genocide loving Zionist if you support Israel.

Some people do not have the mental capacity to understand nuance. Everything is black and white to them. That is a classic sign of lower intelligence.

I don't think anyone posting here is dumb, but we are dumber for posting here year after year.

Very intelligent and charismatic people can make very persuasive arguments and they become more compelling when they skip the nuance. It is often omitted because of the desire to "own" the other side.

There are 40 people in that video. Columbia has over 8k students. NYC has over 8 million inhabitants. Are their chants wrong? Yes. But is it an accurate reflection of Columbia U or NYC? No. Is it organic? Most likely. Could it be astroturfed? Just as possible.

    The emotions are high.

    From that same Twitter thread.

I am not sorry that I am more upset at seeing Palestinians and Israelis dying than at unruly college students in the US cosplaying.
