this saturday at 4 on NBC I'm going with Afleet Alex again. That horse runs hard every time out. Giacomo??? I'll say this...if he wins this horse, he's winning the Triple Crown. He runs well long, and the Belmont is longer than the Derby or the Preakness. Imagine a horse that started out 50/1 in the Derby winning the Triple Crown!! I'm guessing that's never happened before. Watch for Scrappy T...if I was more of a betting man, I'd throw some money on this horse at 30/1.

wow...i think Scrappy started at 30/1...now it's already down to 20/1. i'd still bite on that. Giacomo opened at 9/2...now he's at 6/1.
Internet and track. Pennsylvania is funny in that they only allow residents to bet through state horse racing sites. In other words I can only bet online through Ebetusa.com. I cannot use TVG online betting or other popular horse racing websites. The local track, Pocono Downs, is harness racing. I don't care for the harness. Of course they have hundreds of Tv's throughout the premises of evey track (dog and horse). Everytime I am in Houston I go to SHRP. I love that place. The horses are not of the caliber of the bigger tracks, but you get to know the good jockeys and horses, and the best part of it is quite a few longshots win at SHRP. If you have never been, you gotta go. If you get there before the races start they have a FREE seminar on how to bet and other great info. Just a great atmosphere IMHO.
I've been...I haven't been to the seminars, but I go to the track. Quarterhorse racing is vastly underrated. Those horses fly. Bet on Lavergne anytime you're here...he's a jockey, and his horses seem to win more often than not. We can't use TVG in Texas, either...at least not through Dish. They list the states that can participate, and the list is pretty short. I would love to place a bet on the Preakness...but I'm not headed to the track...and somehow I just don't feel comfortable betting online. Like the authorities are gonna storm my office the minute I execute the bet, or something!
MM, I've got a buddy in Dallas who owns a couple of horses (I believe they're quarterhorses). The rumor is he'll be coming down here a couple of times this summer...I'll let you know so you can go out there with us. I've never been with him, but apparently, you can make some dough since he knows his stuff.
When i went to the Univ of Maryland, we used to go every year to the Preakness.....the infield party there is second to none....you wouldnt even know there was a horserace going on. Anyway, I like Zito's Sun King and Closing Argument.
