And how "should" we be behaving? Talk about the power of prayer on our laptops while millions in the world face starvation and injustice?
IMO, in the end, you'll be judged by the difference between what you sincerely believed is right (heart) and what you did (actions). It won't matter what the "standards" are, as long as you put in a sincere effort to try to find out what is "right". We don't need to create a standard set of behaviors which reflect how we "should" act.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noetic Or, more succinctly, thoughts (prayer) have mass and can effect stuff. At least that's the theory behind noetics. Dan Brown uses the most random stuff in his books, doesn't he?
You might be missing my point. I think proper behavior within your given society and culture is pretty clearly defined whether it be by religion, literature, politics, you name it. I don't pray, but I keep people in need of support in my thoughts. You express concern for the injustice of millions of people starving in the world. Some people pray. In the grand cosmological diaspora, my guess is we all have the same impact. Treating the people you meet today nicely might be a good start.
