If he dies on April Fools Day, that would be something.

The pope has been an inspiration to all especially the sick. The fact that he battled through illnesses and still managed his vocation is remarkable.

    God Bless +

Pardon the passive voice, but The April Fools Day "holiday" was created upon a change in Calendar, so says Channel 13 this morning, and one of the multiple choice answers was "religious event".

Isabel, you put it best. What else CAN we wish for him but a peaceful death? NPR reported this morning from a source in Italy that he was told these were his "last rites" and he responded with a "thank you".

AnotherBrother, did you get to read my email yet?

I think the Pope is already dead. The church just shoves a stick in his butt and uses wire like Mr. Ed back in the 60s

What if, after he dies, he finds out that God is a Scientist.

I agree... tasteless. I respect everyone's right to free speech, but it is not the time and place for those kinds of comments.

I'm not Catholic or any Christian denomination but I am still sad at the Pope's passing.

There are many things I don't agree with John Paul II and IMO his legacy is mixed. I think he's set back progress on several social issues but at the same time he's been a great moral force who has been instrumental in the fall of Communism and in reconciliation between Catholicism and other religions.

It will be interesting to see if the next Pope will be as much as an activists as this one.

    Peace be with you.

Totally uncalled for, and I am not even a Christian. No one, regardless of faith, can deny that the Pope has been a long-lasting symbol and example of good in this world. Theologically, I do not agree with him, but as a man, I have the utmost respect for him and I honor him. His character and conduct compel me to have this respect.

However bleak the outlook, I hope he recovers. But at the same time, I do not want him to suffer. May God have His mercy on the Pope and may he rest in peace.

The real Bono would never say anything like that.

    Godspeed, Pope. :(
