sorry, all that'll do is have him end up on the bench making $$ for doing nothing.

That would allow us to deal swift and DA for a real perimeter player MUCH easier knowing we'll have Cato, Howard and Hayes to grab boards down low. His last year with us really changed my opinion of him! We were solid on the interior defense! He was a big part of why we were do lock-down defense that year.

    DO IT! times infinity

If he's comes free, i.e. veteran's minimum then why not? If he sucks we can just waive him.

If we could pick him up for cheap then why not? We've already seen what he can do when healthy, which is rebound and play good defense. The only reason this wouldn't make sense is if we plan on keeping JHo, Stro, and Deke, but if we wanna trade any of them then I say do it. Either pull the trade trigger, then sign him,...or cut RyBo and sign him, either way works for me.

As much as he drove me crazy with the ole "potential" thing, if cheap grab him. I was actually impressed his last year.

    WOW!

    The Magic traded Cuttino

    The Magic traded Cato

And the Magic are agressively shopping Francis

They REALLY got the short end of the McGrady deal!

I would take Cato in a heartbeat and so would JVG. He was the anchor on defense in JVG's first year in Houston. He brings JVG's ellusive toughness he is seeking. I just don't think Detroit would wave him for nothing, he is a 7-footer with value. Remember Miami took the Pistons to 7 games last year. Cato is six hard fouls on Shaquille.

I hope the Pistons waive him and we can pick him up on the cheap.

Cato brought us toughness, defense and rebounding. I think he will be happy playing in Houston again with Yao / Tmac and the rest of the crew.

At $42 million I hate him, but at $1 million he's a bargain.

    To Kelvin Cato-
    A poem by cwebbster

My hand are made of stone
    I like to dunk
    I like to block shots

    When the Lion roars
It means I did something good
    I am pseudo-awesome

    Ben Wallace is my idol
    He is my friend
My hands are made of concrete

    I looked into Medusa's eyes
    Thats what made me stone
    Im rock solid

    My name is Cato
    I wear white suits
    I drive a Bentley

    I pimp the ladies
    They love my stone hands
    I give good massages

    Houston will miss me
    I am irreplaceable
Not too many people are made of stone

    Have fun without me
    I love Houston
    My bentley is for sale

If he's being waived, you can't use the TE to sign him.

If he's not being waived, the TE is too small to use to trade for him.

And I highly doubt anyone would break the bank for Cato.

I wouldn't mind getting Cato back if it was cheap. He played tough for us the last few years, played good in his stint as a pf with Yao on the floor, and Dike isn't going to be around much longer. But I think he may be happy just slipping into retirement, he already got his $$$.

Game effort and focus of Swift without nearly as much physical ability. Pass. At this point, he's no better than Steven Hunter. Body's falling apart to boot.

    It isn't your money.

But yea yea, it goes against the cap.

Either the dude can play or he can't. What does money have to do with it?

Apparently he's coming of injuries too so why on God's green Earth do we want to pick another injury risk... esp considering he's a known slacker... when we've got a HUGE push ahead to make the playoffs.

Worst case is we pick him up and he starts doing decent. Then when we need him most in the final weeks, he gets hurt or starts slacking off and we miss the playoffs by one game.

    NO THANKS.

I'll take my chances without him.

I don't think so. Anyway, they have to trade t-mac since his contract is near expiring and he is not willing to stay. I think magic's GM does a pretty good trade to get steve, cat, and cato. His mistake is to trade cat to Kings, big mistake. Otherwise, magic will be at least a playoff team.

When cato was with the rockets, my friends would say during games, "cato, just don't be garbage"

Cato has been Mr Glass this year.

    No, thanks.

I wouldn't mind that Orlando draft pick for use in another trade; but that won't happen, since Cato was picked up only to be let go (and for that draft pick).
