Well that escalated quickly. What's the likelihood of Manning sticking around for another coach at the age of 39?
I assume if he wants to stay, he would essentially get to pick the coach. The OC is also a popular head coach pick, so it opens the door to promote him and keep Manning.
Manning needs to come to Houston. We have good doctors to help him with his quad. And he can win a Ship with Andre
It would probably be a nice place for him to retire to, but there isn't gambling here, so they'd probably have to take the quick trip to Louisiana to "win" a ship. If they did manage to win one, they could launch it into either the gulf or Conroe fairly easily though, so that would be cool.
no chance they will I was listening to local sports radio here in Denver yesterday and everyone was going ape ****. The whole city wanted Fox and Del Rio gone
Yes, but if Denver thinks Manning isn't worth the $22 million cap hit they can waive him before his money is guaranteed for next season. Thus opens the door for a possible signing with the Texans
Sounds like he was injured: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Specifically: Peyton Manning has a torn rectus femoris, which runs down center of thigh. Bruising was so severe it spread to back of his leg</p>— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/554683337458319360">January 12, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Has to be. He was doing so well at the start of the season. But injuries are part of the game, esp. as you get older. Again, Broncos need to emphasize the running game more, and rest Manning as much as possible v. weaker competition (Raiders).
Denver would never release Manning, at least not this offseason, if he was hurt, hhe could heal up, then play a bit better, and still if they release Manning, they are throwing the season away, with Osweiller as a QB, a low end draft pick, or who would they sign as a QB? Denver would be so dumb, if they cut Peyton.
They are looking at rebuilding no matter what REALLY soon. Peyton is going to be 39 and probably not going to get any healthier or more durable as the seasons go on. They gambled on him when they had little to nothing to lose coming off of an 8-8 Tebow year and it almost paid off but it's back to square one for them.
Right, but where are they going to find the money to re-sign the Thomases and Knighton? Also Fox is gone, and Gase (the OC) might look for a HC gig too. There's too many moving parts in Denver right now.
Bears move on from Kubiak to Fox. If they hire him, there will be moaning and groaning. My friend that is a huge Bears fan said he would rather have Kubes than Fox.
Apparently Broncos want to interview Kubiak. I'm not sure Peyton will be back if Kubes is hired since he's a control freak with his offense
