from what i've heard/seen, when he's not throwin down dunks, he's shooting ill-advised/contested 3's and can be a black hole down the stretch of games. i have no idea where this notion of Iggy being a good iso/offensive player came from. he's just a physical clone of Lebron w/o the skillset and less atheleticism. don't get me wrong, I like him as a player, but not as a rocket. don't take my word for it, go check out some of the philly forums and you'll see what i'm talking about.
Where is all the love for D. Granger? DG>AI 2.0. DA avg'd 24 pts/gm last year. His scoring is down this year due to the slowing down of their tempo this year. Also he is concentrating more on defense. All this and he is still 21 pt/gm player this year.
Considering Carmelo is a worse 3pt shooter, worse FT shooter, gets to the line less, and is a worse iso player than KMart, I'll go with Iggy.
Gerald Wallace's stellar defense is what got him into the All-Star game last year in the first place. He was the defensive centerpiece of the Bobcats who were ranked the #1 defensive team in the league. He pretty much never leaves his man. Plus he averaged 10 rebounds, and his offense isn't too shabby either, he shot 48% FG overall and 37% from 3.
Iguodala is ok. Melo would be great, but I don't think it is going to happen. On that list, I say Gerald Wallace because what better way to improve a poor defense than to get one of the best (and most versatile) defensive players in the league? I also really wouldn't mind getting Wilson Chandler.
Spoiler "Terrence Williams, you are currently not one of the poll options, how do you feel?" In all honesty thought, any of them will fit with a center who can protect the rim
i would love to have iggy on this team. the guy has heart. honestly i would rather have him as our main scorer instead of martin mainly because his scoring would not be neutralized by the points he gives up. he is a hard nosed defender
I think Granger could fit in this system, if Shane Battier is traded . Shane and Danny are both very good beyond the arc. However, Batman's defense and IQ over some players are great. If DG33 can attack the line, we could see more in assits, rebounding, fast-breaks and steals.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't G.Wallace over rely on steals and blocks? What will he do once he starts to lose his explosiveness?
AI's a better playmaker, and better in the last 15 secs, Wallace is a similar shooter (although his recent improvements might give the nod to him), better defender, better rebounder. Thing is AI's playmaking isn't elite like Gerald's defense, and you can never have enough elite defenders. Gerald's blazing speed and athleticism also gives us a finisher on fast breaks (something we seem to miss with frequent abandon) that won't get called for charges (posterizing fast break plays are always called blocks even if they are charges), and he's also give us a player who can blind side shot block opposing breaks...
Iggy last season 17 pts, 44% FG%, 31% from 3, 6.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists G-Wallace 18 pts, 48% FG%, 37% from 3, 10 rebounds, 2 assists rebounds and assist I guess are a wash but this Rox teams needs more rebounds than assists. and no his defensive games doesn't mainly rely on just steals/blocks, he hustles like crazy.
his steals and blocks are usually on guys he's not guarding, its similar to how Jordan used to do it. his man to man defense is usually stick to him like glue. Gerald is everything that the 90's Sonics had that used to screw us, lol.
I would take any of them plus a defensive center, but I think this team needs star power first. So in this order: 1. Melo 2.Granger 3. Iggy 4. Wallace Here is there player stat comparisons from this season so far: http://www.basketball-reference.com...011&p3=anthoca01&y3=2011&p4=grangda01&y4=2011
Here's one possibility. How about Yao's contact to Minny plus Hill for Pekovic and Martell Webster? Martell is your under the radar SF trade target. Reasonable contact, great shooter, young, intelligent replacement for Shane. Twill is a combo guard that is going to wind up playing the point a lot. We need a young SF. Webster is a stout 6'7". We use our exceptions to acquire the two players and we get a huge 17 million dollar exception for Yao's contact which can set off a chain of other deals.
