Dude, I don't think you even read my post. I am talking about The Society of Saint Pius X. They seem pretty sick. What I am saying is that I am not going to support a group that demonstrates a Buddhist worship service to the point of police intervention. This is the group Mel Gibson is a part of and supports. This is what you are supporting and financing by seeing this movie. All I am saying is that you can count me out.
I have to admit this movie really opened my eyes. I am the least spiritual person on the planet, and I don't believe in God. But after watching the film, I found myself going straight home and reading the entire New Testament, because I was so enthralled by the story. I haven't converted or come to believe in God, but I was just suddenly filled with a need to know the entire tale, as was originally written.
Originally posted by moestavern19 ... What I find sad is the people who want to discredit the message of the movie and Christianity as a whole using a vehicle of anti-semitism as ammunition. What nonsense, but I suspected as much from your previous comments. Judging by the box office, you obviously failed. That result has ZERO correlation with your hypothesis. No one ever tried to shut the movie down, but much concern was expressed over it's imagery and how it will be received particularly in South America and parts of Europe where anti-semiticism is rampant. But some simply lack the empathy to even understand the issue, and potentially serious ramifications to others.
ZRB, the article you posted is easily filled with a lot more hate than one could possibly construe from the movie in question, even with the most paranoid reading. But, this thread is heading quickly to D&D at this point, which is a shame considering there are already a couple there dealing with the same subject. So, I won't argue the point except to point out that the author has a misunderstanding of the movie/Bible here: It was Roman law, not temple law, that keeps the Jews from putting Jesus to death. Temple law provides for stonings and executions for a host of crimes. But, they lost that right when they were conquered.
