LOL, Bush had no strategy in Aghanistan either. At least you admit you just wanted to attack Obama's belief in diplomacy. maybe gates will suggest military action to satifisfy the chickenhawks

Doubtful - he didn't do it under Bush.

You have to remember, when he came on board, around 2006, even Bush had basically stopped listening to Cheney and the other sociopaths.

We wouldn't have to worry about Iran using a nuke if we didn't support their dictator many a years back.

    Fair enough basso.

I'll put more credence in the direct words of the people involved -- you can continue to rely on the embellishment of supposed insinuations of unidentified, anonymous sources if they fit your agenda.

I agree that Bush does not belong in this thread (as incompetent as I believe his admin was in soooo many ways).

And if you're worried about Obama being too gun shy -- his continuation and expansion of the Afghanistan and Iraq US Military world tour should offer you strange comfort.

(and thanks for responding, by the way).

Of course he belongs in this thread. The decisions of his administration, particularly regarding Iraq, have had the effect of severely limiting US and Western options.

The way the Bush administration responded to 9/11 and invaded Iraq put Iran in a much better position to ignore and discredit diplomatic efforts and gave them a huge incentive to develop nuclear capacity.

We massed a huge number of troops in one place just before the Iraq invasion because we (the Bush administration) knew there were no weapons of mass destruction. Iran noticed this and is betting a future administration would not be so sanguine about collecting all our targets in one place if there really were WMDs.

in this instance, my agenda is simply for Obama to do what is necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. i'm not sure he shares that agenda however- i'd be delighted to be proven wrong on that point.

and this is why bush belongs in this thread, because you don't develop the ability to develop nucular weapons in one year.

"nucular", see what i did there

Of course the Bush administration blew off all information the Clinton Administration passed on to them in regards to AQ and chose instead to focus on overthrowing a sovereign nation.

    Oops!

And look where that lead us

"Party of D'oh"? Has basso ever come up with a play on words that was funny?

It's like watching somebody bomb at a comedy club and not even realize it.

Absolutely - his team of advisers like Richard Clarke made Terrorism a high priority, something that was discarded in January of 2001. Had Clinton been president in September 2001, there's a good chance that the national scurity apparatus would not have been focusing on 80's wet dreams about Star Wars and missile defense and ignoring memos entitled "Bin Laden determined to strike within the US" while the President was off reading "The Pet Goat".

according to tinfoil hat wearers from worldnetdaily - yup.

Of course, at least he tried. Bush of course was too busy building up a missile shield to stop the Soviets and reading "The Pet Goat".

The neo-cons just won't give up. Two wars is not enough for Basso, the chickenhawk.

I will be interested to see if he will convince his kids to go and occupy Iran and various othe countries in the future on behalf of hair-brained neo-con schems.

I think overall the American public is getting tired of meo-con perpetual war. Sadly the neo-cons are still able to intimidate most Dems by the possible charge that they lost: China, Vietnam, Afghanistan the first time and probably soon the second time, Iraq perhaps for the third time Venezuela, whatever.
