the convention attendees and the GOP base are fired up regardless b/c of her social views. if she doesn't say a word, they still are fired up. the purpose was to reach the independents and the woman voters. she failed miserably at that by failing to talk about any issue relevant to the american people.
Are you really going to compare the scope and prestige of Palin's elected offices with Obama's? Because I was class treasurer in middle school. Elected office!
A hearty LOL at this speech. I nearly turned it off because it is unbearable for me to listen to the partisan dribble with minimal substance, but I agree that this speech didn't hurt the GOP's case. I just feel sad for anyone that genuinely gets excited for our country's future after sitting through the speeches of Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani (wow), then Palin. Barack Obama could have absolutely zero political experience and I'd vote for him anyway, since he's extremely intelligent. Anyways, this election will turn into a total joke once it comes down to any sort of debate between Obama and McCain. Obama's public speaking skills will mop the floor, as usual.
This election is already a joke. Neither party has their ideal candidate representing them. Obama may be an Ivy league, "community organizer", that delivers beautiful sounding speeches, but he's not ready for that 3AM call. His own VP in Biden said so, Hillary said so (and her 18 million voters), and obviously America is uncertain right now. McCain, is DEFINITELY not the candidate the Republicans wanted. So we have the Rockstar vs the Warhero. Great!
But voting present over 150 times in the Illinois senate is REAL CHANGE! Didn't you get the Obama memo?
I think Palin benefitted quite a bit from low expectations. She delivered a fairly solid speech without any major gaffes but given how she's taking a bit of a beating recently and how little was known about her all she needed to do was look competent.
No - your math is wrong. Anyway if we count Wasilia Alaska as elected office. then I get to count Harvard Law Review because it's a bigger organization with more staff. (true)
Except my comparison was sarcasm meant to mock yours? I wasn't legitimately comparing my elected experience to getting elected mayor or governor.
That 3am call thing is such nonsense. Can you name a single instance in which the President of the United States has received a 3am call from which an immediate and complex decision had to be made to defend the security of the United States? Give me a break.
The problem with logic is that McCain has served for years, and BEEN there and voted up or down. Campaigner Obama has been... uh... how do I ... uh... put this.. uh... ABSENT for the majority of his elected responsibilities... After claiming he wouldn't do that.
You cant possibly make the claim it hasn't happened. Unless you've lived in the White House or served on the National Security Council... or been a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Where do you come up with the thinking that everybody around the world is asleep and in bed like good little kids while the POTUS is asleep? Much less hostile enemies...
