Why does everybody have to be careful when referring to Palin? She accepted the position, she should accept the baggage. I'm not saying she is avoiding it but that the commentary I am hearing from all these media heads right now.

Not only that, but he set up programs to boost people out of poverty and help them earn a living. That's EXACTLY what Republicans preach, but never practice. Utter hypocrisy.

I believe Obama was mocked for his community organizer role NOT because of the nature of the work itself but, instead, because his list of credentials is short enough that this work is often cited as one of his top few accomplishments.

It's interesting... Mrs. B-Bob and I were watching the entire Palin speech, after having Rudy's mug on mute...

Neither of us planned to donate to the Obama campaign, ever, but halfway through her speech, we looked at each other and said, "this woman cannot get close to the presidency. Let's donate."

We don't really have the money right now, but here it is... I'm an Obamaniac, or a zombie, or whatever one calls his supporters these days.

I wonder if she helped energize anyone else leaning toward the left tonight. For me, it was her making fun of his work for the poor. I'd rather someone help the less fortunate before shooting a moose. So I let my wallet (or credit card actually) speak.

I don't think so. How she got where she is at, and what we saw, doesn't smack me of window dressing. She strikes me as formidable, not to be underestimated at all.

I agree more with this take. This women would be a scary as hell boss. Composed, strategic, ability to shift between warm and cold, totally sure of herself--she would run you over if she hinted you were not towing her line, or merely if you just happened to be a convenient stepping stone.

I can also see why her husband has dug in with her for 20+ years, would you want to piss her off?

She did a good job of attacking and a good job of showing her "own home" roots. Her delivery wasn't as bad as some are trying to suggest. I think if she hadn't followed Rudy her speech would have come across with much more of a mocking tone with regards to Obama and Biden. Rudy combined with the negative frenzy around her the last few days probably gave her a cushion where she could go so negative. For the rest of this campaign this might not hold up. Who knows.

Hers was the best speech of the night, though. I am still in awe of Romney's.

It was quite the opposite for me.

I guess I don't see how you can make the stretch, from saying as mayor she had to actually make decisions, to someone who chairs an organization not having too (which I don't necessarily agree with).........all the way to making fun of working for the poor.

DEMS: "You can't possibly be serious that you that thought she was good, she's a simpleton, small town, jack rabbit jones, backwoods, same... blah, blah... Go Obama!"

GOP: "She did exactly what she was supposed to do. I applaud her honesty.

MEDIA: closer to what the GOP is saying

    RESULT: Scared left.

To be fair none of the speeches on both sides during these conventions have given much detail as to the policies, nor should they. These are more of rah-rah type speeches.........a policy list is not for this forum. Now, that being said McCain should list overall ideas similar to the way Obama did, not the VP's job during the conventions.

Wow -- more details, please? I only heard a few lines from Romney, as I was driving home from work. He started by saying he "loved everybody" or some such.

Rocketball, I don't know what to tell you. Her tone was completely dismissive and snide, and I did not get the impression that she had the slightest idea of what Obama actually worked on in the inner city. Her comments, in that way, seemed to welcome the "culture wars" of country versus city, and I'm tired of that. We have too much in common, and too much work to do together. I know both fairly well, from my family and travels. Both are fighting for good-paying jobs. Both are fighting drug wars (e.g. my parents tiny Texas town is getting overrun by meth). Both are fighting health epidemics. Both need efficient governments and infrastructure. Both need real education opportunities for young people, so they can compete in this global economy for something other than telephone bank jobs.

Then, she tried to say Obama was all about himself, or just working on his career. Huh? How about going after his policies. He's not auditioning for valedictorian or class president. If you've listened to word one from Obama, or read even one chapter of his books, you know he wants to make a positive difference (just like McCain does!). No need to denigrate that in either candidate. If that tactic helps her cause, God help us all.

I think I decided to donate to Obama when I pictured her being snide and simplistic with Putin and just saw him eating her for lunch, like he's eaten Bush for lunch. I want, for a change, a really intelligent president. Not just tough, but both tough and mental.

small town folks are destined to be dumb? i resent your logical/illogical approach here.

but earlier you disregarded her spending cuts because vp's don't have spending power, didn't you? now your saying there is a healthy chance she would have spending power, are you now acknowleding her spending cuts?

this is exactly why i am not a republican or a democrat or anything that tells me what to think before i think. that is why i consider myself to be an intelligent person, and fyi... i was born and raised in a very small town.

what i have found is that really smart political types and really dump political types can talk in circles all day everyday and make your head spin. at the end of the day no one can make heads or tails of anything so they stick to what they no best, love my party hate the other. its a primal instinct really.

i'm proud to say that i think i'm intelligent enough to see through all the political bs and abstain from these types of politicking. give me the issue and i will think about with every fiber of my body and soul, which was built by my up bringing, from studies, research, spiritualness, good experinces, bad experiences, good choices, bad choices, and every other concievable thing my mind, body, eyes, ears, spirit has thought, touched, seen, heard, and felt. And then and only then will I make my decision and live with it. that's my party.
