So, they have quietly stock piled a large asset base of young talent. PG: Payton SG: Oladipo SF: Hezonja PF:Gordon C:Vucevic I doubt these are the starters persay but that's a very young and talented group that fills just about every spot (I know Hezonja is probably more of a SG than a SF). They have a veteran presence in Frye, but everyone else is still very young! I could see Orlando picking up a couple Free agents to help guide and lead their young and promising team into maybe a 7th or 8th seed this season
This should have been where Porzingis ended up as he could develop with the young core and without pressure. Nevertheless Hezonja is a real talent as well.
Also have harkless and harris (rfa). And fournier. The problem is that vuc cant defend and their guards cant shoot. But skiles will get them in the playoffs its my guess and with internal improvement they have a bright future.
I was high on the Magic for like 2 weeks. Then I realized how good their two PG backcourt actually has to become if they're ever going to contend. There are just so many good point guards in the league. Vucevic looks like a stud, I like him, but he's padding his stats. Making the playoffs in the east doesn't mean anything to me. I don't think that nucleus can grow together and contend. They have a lot of pieces to move before they're back on the radar IMO.
Tobias Harris was quoted saying he doesn't wanna play for flip in orlando. Saw it on twitter but can't post it
If Hezonja can back his talk, I think this Magic team could just squeak into the playoffs. Not likely but I wouldn't be surprised if they snagged the 8th spot.
If Oladipo becomes the star that many predicted him to be, Orlando Magic may sneak into the playoffs. Making the 7th & 8th spot in the east is not diffucult, losing records have gotten teams into playoffs for the past few seasons.
the magic would never do that trade. with hibberts contract in mind he is a net negative. trading 3 promising young players for an aging center with zero offense is not advisable
Resigning Tobias Harris was a major deal. Stacked with young talent like the Bucks. Should compete for the bottom playoff spot atleast.
Wise choice. Im glad they missed on millsap. They shouldnt take such steps so soon. No matter if they end up keeping harris or trading him later YOU DONT LET a 23 y.o sf with high upside leave for nothing. I like the magic a lot and wait tonsee what skiles can do with them. They are an enigma. Lots of young talent but not good fitting. The guards cant shoot but have great defence and the center cant defend but can shoot. No rim protection. Will hezonja come off the bench? Will harris come good off the bench or gordon? My guess gordon and henzonja wont take so many minutes because ..skiles. Also will they trade harkless and will they match koq?
