They are coming finally getting around to re-releasing the albums on CD. There were some test pressings out recently, so I don't think it should be too long before the CD's are ready for general release.
I didn't get made fun of for my music too much, but the one that some people didn't understand the level of my devotion to was Big Country. They just thought the bagpipe guitar sound was a gimmick so they didn't take it seriously. Even though that sound was revolutionary, and Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson's use of the e-bow was some of the finest even today people didn't take their music seriously. I would put Mark Brzezicki's drumming among the best in pop/rock music. I prefer it to the music of Neal Pert. I find it more creative, and only slightly less masterful in technique. He's amazing. Plus Stuart Adamson was a great innovative guitarist. Even in his previous band the Skids, he was amazing. His songs were like those of a modern day bard.
I'm going to go obscure and local on you people. My sister had this record when I was around 10-12, and I loved it. Nothing quite as goofy as a new wave song about Jim Jones. http://www.thejudys.com/washarama.html# http://www.thejudys.com/ramfiles/washguyana.ram
If anyone gave you any grief for listening to The Judys then they deserve to be beaten up by Fatty and his crew. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf0UQz8g0HA
That was actually a pretty good album, and got good reviews by the critics at the time. "The Gentleman Who Fell" is still a catchy tune.
Another of my silly ones... They were pretty popular at first among some of my friends... but by this album they had gone solidly pop and even sold out on a group duet with the Beach Boys. I still jammed this album... may not now, but I can still here the title track in my head when I see the cover.
Yep, that is the one I mentioned in post 51 of this thread. Can't let Fatty steal my thunder !!! I saw them open for "The Go Gos".....the Judys rocked, when the go gos came out, we left. DD
