Per German Rox FAn: "i can't agree with that. mo taylor's contract was certainly too high, but he was a promisiing young player when he signed it. too bad he had that injury that cost him much of his athletic ability and too bad he couldn't stop doing drugs. eddie griffin is basically the same story. in the situation the rockets were, nearly every gm would do this trade again with the knowledge everybody had back then. there's not much to say about moochie norris. he was a decent backup point guard before he signed his big contract but he never was worth that much money. steve francis was good here. he had his faults but he was one of the best players in the league. since being traded he didn't have the right situation for him. he had a good year in orlando but the management ripped a promising team apart because they thought steve was taking away shots dwight howard should be getting. look at the magic right now. they aren't really that much further. dwight howard is still raw and is still not averaging enough field goal attempts for the hype he has been getting. ryan bowen was always only a hard worker and hustler without any talent. he didn't earn that much money so i don't know how he belongs in your list." Thanks for this post. I do not really understand why Egypt started this thread-unless just to villify Rudy. Rudy is gone Egypt. He will never coach again. He is never coming back here. Why re-hash this stuff?? Enjoy our team now!!!!
Per Patience: "Yeah I remember that game. Moochie played out of his mind. I think that game was the single biggest reason Moochie got that enormous contract the next year. Highlight of an otherwise sad season." I attended the triple overtime game. It was great fun- I brought my 75 yr old father in law. We sat in section 117 in Compaq. I had a full season ticket package that year and one more season after. Driving from Beaumont on weeknites was rough. After the next year I got a 1/2 season package and have had it ever since. Those were tough times- Hakeem declining, Charles Barkley fat and done, and Steve Francis dribbling our offense silly into panic shots and turnovers. Our current team is competitive and there is so much more to cheer for. Go Rockets-we support you thru the good and bad times!!!!
Per EGYPT: "with Moe Taylor and Eddie Griffin, Ryan Bowen, Moochie being waived from their teams, Cato, Francis soon to follow, the ROX previous team except for Cuttino (for the time being) proves to be a failure. Whether it is substance abuse, low basketball IQ or arrogance these guys completely fell apart. I am very glad we are not watching these guys play in a ROX uniform anymore and how stupid was it to sign them to such ridiculous contracts that were never renewed by any other time since." Why bring this up?? Were you a fan back when these events took place? Those were tough times. I felt so sorry for Rudy....Do you hate Rudy? Enjoy the team we have now!!!! Go Rockets!!!!
that is true and I am not doubting that but the fact is that these guys would not survive in todays league and they are being released one after the other and never heard of ever again.
Anderson did not play much with the ROX and almost never with the HEAT, and Posey is being mensioned for trades becasue he is not worth his salary.
it is amazing looking back at those teams and how little talent was actually there, especially young talent, which the rockets are still trying to recover from.
Man I am a great RudtT fan i think he was a great coach. I started this thread becasue I was shocked to see Moe Taylor and Griffin being waived which made me think about that whole era of ROX history, I am just not aware of a whole team with guys in the middle of their career just disapear of the NBA lists like these guys did.

Per DonkeyMagic: "yup...waste of an era." I was there at every home game from '99 to '02. I really admire Jeff Balke for wokring so hard to help get us a new arena. Things were looking pretty bleak then. I worried the Rockets would move. Seems like a remote possibility now. I am really enjoying the success we are having now! Go Rockets!!!!
They were pretty damn close... Tied for best record ever to not make playoffs if I remember correctly.
at least for some of these guys, they're failing now...YEARS later.. doesn't mean they weren't useful back then. Not that I want even that version of them back..
