    1. Call Blake Griffin and say "hey, Houston wants you buddy, demand a trade here" and boom he does.
    2. Call up Kobe Bryant and say "anyone can win a championship with Phil Jackson as head coach, and Pau Gasol on a line-up, prove what you're really worth and demand a trade to Houston". Then KB24 comes to Houston...
    3. Invent anti-aging cream to bring back Kenny Smith and Hakeem Olajuwon. We sign those two to three 10 day contracts just to give it a spin.
    4. We fire Rick Adelman midway through the season and trade for Shane Battier to come back, ask Shane to retire and become Head Coach.
    5. We win it all. LeBron sues Pat Reilly and the Heat to let him out of his contract so he can take his services to Houston. LeBron claims that his love affair with DWade put him under duress and because of it the contract should be voided.

Those are all the moves we need to make. I think the hardest move to make will be 4, the rest are actually rather easy.

    Morey, get it done.

I think we should use the inception method on Dwight Howard and Chris Paul. Call Leo And get his team to plant the idea in both of their heads that Houston is the place to be.
    Paul
    C.Lee
    Budinger
    Scola
    Howard.......

I wonder how a team, any sports team, can dream of becoming a contender if the tendency is to keep trading players in a revolving door. How can the Rockets contend if its players are treated as assets to be traded over and over.

A team can only move forward if it builds upon a core of players who have been playing together for a reasonable length of time. A team has to establish stability and move pieces only to make significant strides in talent and depth.

If a team keeps harvesting assets in order to trade them for, well, assets, is only spinning its wheels and are not going anywhere other than providing excitement to kids who always want new toys (new players).

With this direction/formula that Morey has pursued in his about four years with the Rockets no wonder he is almost starting from scratch and the dream of a championship is becoming a nightmare and a distant star.

The common excuse that they had superstars who got injured is getting old. If Morey had built up his talents around those superstars then he should have had enough talent today to compete at least in the WC. As it is his merry go round ways with players on the team have produced a number of busts and discards from other teams.

The championship days of the Rockets seem so far away now. The Rockets' lofty and proud tradition of having a long period of dominance with their legendary big men from the Big E, Moses Malone, Sampson, Olajuwon, Yao Ming and Deke has been carried on by... Thabeet? How sad.

NJN sent their #1 to Utah in the deal for Deron Williams .... You'll have to look elsewhere.

I can see a deal to get into the top 3-5 picks but at this point its impossible to know who you would be dealing with.

Take Pau and Kobe off the Lakers, what do you have?

Take Duncan/Parker/Manu off the Spurs...what do you have?

What you are suggesting is that Morey should have had reserve superstars or something, the most a team can have is about 3 because of the cap. Also Brooks was supposed to be that, but as we saw that did not work out well.

No way Perry Jones in still available at #7.... let's try gone at the 2nd pick worst case scenario. Durant shows his game translates, and he is more physical... come on.

the only teams who are guaranteed 4-5 years of playoff success will be teams who either pull what miami did or trade for 3 stars like NY is trying to do.

Bad examples to compare to the Rockets' ineptitude. The Lakers, and the Spurs to a certain extent, have had significant teams for a very very long time. The Lakers, through shrewd and competent FO's through the years have not had significantly long droughts. It wasn't really long after the Magic era that they had the Kobe/Shaq dynasty, and up to this day, they are still very dominant.

The Spurs are similar in that, even at this stage of Duncan's career when he is no longer the dominant player that he was, they are still in the hunt for the no.1 seed throughout the NBA, and are well on their way to, possibly, another ring.

The common denominator is a very astute, experienced and very intelligent FO. These teams build a very solid and stable core of players who have played a long time together and have incredible chemistry.

They do have superstars but, time and again, it has been proven that their superstars had solid players patiently built around them and that they could rely on and even carry the team at those moments that the superstars are not performing well.

By the way, some of the stars in their teams were not considered such when they were drafted. It was through their internal and patient development that these players became who they are today.

These players were also picked by competent scouts and personnel who have more basketball experience and instincts. They may be using statistical analysis in great lengths but they may be better at using these stats in a more applicable basketball context due to their experience.

The abovementioned points are a major difference from the Rockets and the results speak for themselves.

So you lose Tracy and Yao, 40 million. The supporting cast is a 500 team that must be payed nickels and dimes.

Daryl has built a fantastic supporting cast.

To prove your point, you need to provide specific player examples. Who did you want the Rockets to go after with a 40 million dollar slashed payroll? Who, with that remaining money, would keep us at the top of the WC? The ineptitude is in your illogical post.

    Z. Randolph couldn't come to Houston if Morey is the GM of the Rockets.
Morey will not give anyone a contract except for superstars offseason

Honestly, unless we land Dwight Howard, we're pretty much boned for the next 2-3 years.
