I loved the Dreamcast I had as well. It's just too bad it didn't catch on enough before the PS2 came out. They had some great games and innovations. The one game that sticks out in my mind is Seaman. The game could get boring, but to be able to actually have a conversation with a fish/man (or whatever it was?) through the microphone was awesome and a big innovation at the time IMO. I thought the little video screen on the controller that responded with different things was cool as well. That reminds me, anyone ever have a Sega CD? I thought it had some VERY cool games as well back in the day. Don't mean to derail the thread, just got me onto memory lane.
Trying to figure out a budget and then I'm going to give CircuitCity.com a try on Friday. If that doesn't work it's cross my fingers and hope, unless someone is willing to risk public anger by saving me a spot in line ANYWHERE in Houston. Pretty please? I've tried real hard to get one and been screwed, someone can give me a break I know it.
I imagine they have been posted in previous XBox 360 threads, but does anyone have good links to clips of these next gen games? I'm lazy and don't know which sites to search.
Here's some links to a few of the 360 launch titles: PDZ: http://www.xboxyde.com/game_771_en.html http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/perfectdarkzero/media.html?mode=all http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/015/015335/vids_1.html PGR 3: http://www.xboxyde.com/game_726_en.html http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving/projectgothamracing3/media.html?mode=all http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/741/741362/vids_1.html Kameo: http://www.xboxyde.com/game_273_en.html http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/kameoelementsofpower/media.html?mode=all http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/490/490038/vids_1.html Call of Duty 2: http://www.xboxyde.com/game_716_en.html http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/callofduty2/media.html?mode=all http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/743/743289/vids_1.html NBA 2K6: http://www.xboxyde.com/game_787_en.html http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/nba2k6/media.html?mode=all http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/747/747890/vids_1.html Condemned: http://www.xboxyde.com/game_699_en.html http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/adventure/condemned/media.html?mode=all http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/728/728997/vids_1.html If you want anything in particular, just ask. Although I guess you might be able to take it from there once you are at some of these sites.
I suppose the Circuit City site is going to get swamped. I wonder if their site will go down due to the heavy load? We will see. I may try to get in there and come out of it with the premium bundle. Otherwise, I'm not going to worry about it until whenever it becomes convenient to get one.
Circuit City will NOT be selling the 360's on Friday, they are simply "taking money" for them... and even if they take your money they cannot gaurantee that you will get one on launch day. Their advertisement for "get yours early" was an internal mistake or so they say. http://engadget.com/entry/1234000890067868/
I wasn't ordering one with the expectation that it should ship Friday. From what everyone is saying, if you order one on Friday then it will ship to on the 21st or 22nd or whatever but you should still get one near launch. I haven't read anywhere where anyone says their taking pre-orders but will not ship until 2006...like EBGames is doing on their 2nd wave pre-orders. It sounds like it's basically a pre-order but their wording is all screwed up. Your drawing a conclusion that you may not get one at launch even if you do order one. I'm not clear on this. It's either: 1.) Their opening up web-only sales to be shipped in time to arrive on or near the 22nd for a known quantity they have in stock at which time, once their gone, then you can no longer order one on-line(as the quantity available will be zero). Or 2.) Their opening up web-only sales and, even though your order may be accepted, you may not get a XBox 360 on or near launch date because they cannot meet the demand for all the orders placed on their site. Therefore, it's possible you could not get one until 2006 some time. This would mean their taking orders regardless of whether they have sufficient quantity available in the warehouse to meet the demand and they will fill the orders as they receive future shipments. I'm not clear on which it is but the idea that you would get it early is clearly wrong...as everyone is saying. But, from reading that thread, most expect to get it on or near launch if they order one Friday. Whether that is true or not is unclear and depends on how their site is set up. Will they no longer take orders if they sell out of their 1st wave quantity OR will they continue to take orders anyway to where you may not get one until they have sufficient quantity available to fill your order assuming orders are handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Circuit C(sh)ity is pretty good at confusing consumers...I will give them that much. This isn't rocket science; tell it like it is. Also, how many could they possibly get for on-line orders from their warehouse? I would imagine it won't be many...maybe less than 50 or 100. I wonder if once you get it in your cart....your home free once you finalize the order?
Um...yeah, I may have given you good news about PDZ, but in order to even it out: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/667/667498p1.html No 99 Nights in Japan until the Spring (guessing NA release some time after that). As for game reviews, COD2 just finished off a round with Gamespot, IGN, 1UP, and other review sites with some very solid scores: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927725.asp Averaging 92% (8.8, 9, and 9 from GS, IGN, and 1UP) A few other reviews (GUN, THAW, NHL 2K6) were put up recently as well at IGN: http://xbox360.ign.com/ I think 1UP is finishing up a review on Condemned, so we might start getting reviews on that game pretty soon.
Anandtech has already disected a new 360... http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2610 Engadget takes you through the "like Christmas morning" process... http://engadget.com/entry/1234000147068421/
I just looked at Circuit City and it looks like they want you to buy a make shift package containing games that I dont really want. ARGHHH!!! Guess I will be waiting a few weeks longer until I find my boring platinum package.
Yeah I really don't care about PGR3 and don't feel like shelling out the money for it if I don't have to. I'll probably still give it a shot and take a small loss to trade it in at Gamestop or something.
I have two Wal-Mart's in my town so I guess I will try to head to one of them and pick the console up. My girlfriend said she would buy it for me and I can just pay her back over time. YAY! (If I get one.) But...I don't know. Is it seriously worth the $300? I should start another thread and get some opinions.
Just received a call from Gamestop that my XBOX 360 may not be available until after Christmas...and I pre-ordered about 6 months ago. This...sucks.
anybody know if CompUSA have any pre-orders? I just remembered i got their store card with a pretty high limit on it
Talked to 3 different people at the one close to my work on Wilcrest and they each said something different.. 1)They are only getting 11 2)They aren’t getting any to sell on the release date 3)They are getting less than 5 The two who said they would have some clamed it would be a free for all when they open the door the next day..
Best options for getting it the day of... If you have a Sam's business card you can get in at 7:00AM and beat the rush. Camp out at Wal-Mart to get it at midnight (I'll be doing this like I did in 2001 for the first Xbox, plus will try and get one at Sam's). Best Buy, CompUSA and Circuit City are going with the "free for all" and some of their employees may have already "hooked" friends up, I'd stay away from those places... I'd also check Sears, my brother was able to buy 3 in 2001 from Sears without any trouble, people tend to forget Sear's sells them, he resold two of them on eBay and still came out 300 bucks ahead. NOTE: If you can buy a PACKAGE deal at say Circuit City with two "pre-determined games" simply buy it there, remove the CC price tag from the game(s) you don't want and take them to Wal-Mart for store credit and get the game(s) you really want. You can EASILY do this at any Wal-Mart, just do not remove the game packaging.
