Well, since the auction said "This auction is for a photo!", I'd say that buyer is a supreme dumbass with cheese...
The buyer may have some grounds for argument because the item was listed under the "console system" category and he had listed the system's specs on the page.
Maybe not. Although the PS brand may create more demand in general than the Xbox brand, so that could even things out a bit, especially if Sony has problems producing them. The demand will depend on a number of things, but I'm sure it will be at least a little crazy when it launches. Hehe...this happens all the time. I doubt the demand for the system would have been very good had they priced it at $500-$600, and the last thing MS wants is to have systems left on the shelves during the holidays, especially if the PS3 could somehow make it stateside by the spring. Plus, I imagine they'd have to reduce the price drastically afterwards in order to sell the system to the more casual gamer, and a price cut of that magnitude so shortly after launch would probably not be a good idea. Sometimes, that could result in gamers anticipating a price drop, and therefore, avoiding a purchase of the system until a price cut, even if MS isn't planning one. As long as the costs of the system aren't too insane, a $300-$400 price is usually a good price for a system at launch. Also, IGN posted 2 new videos of my favorite Xbox 360 game, TES IV: Oblivion. It has some interesting information in the videos as well, including their plans for downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version. I just ran down to two Best Buys, Circuit City, Walmart, and Comp USA. There are huge lines already waiting to get the X Box 360. Now here is the thing. There may not be any X boxs released on Friday from what I've read. The Best Buy off I -10 (near Blaylock) and the one on HWY 6 have about 50 people waiting in line. The Circuit City had about 50 as well. Walmart was empty. I went to the one on Kirkwood and spoke to one of the people setting up things and he said they dont have any. Comp USA was the most insane they had something like 200 people waiting outside. They had lights out and everything. Weird thing though... I called the store and the manager said they do not have X boxs. Hmmm... This is all very strange. The store owners are saying one thing, the people are anticipating something else. If someone ends up getting one on Friday I'm curious if these managers were lying or if there were was a ton of unhappy people.
STORY HERE Does anyone realize that 360 = 0 in degrees? ______________________ Microsoft Reports Isolated Xbox Glitches Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday it had received isolated reports of technical problems with its popular new Xbox 360 videogame system. Some owners complained that their systems were crashing during game play, sometimes with error messages popping up. On http://www.xbox-scene.com, a site dedicated to Xbox gaming, a member called jsgongwon reported that he could not finish the first lap of "Project Gotham Racing 3." "It's a few reports of consoles here and there not working properly," said Molly O'Donnell, a spokeswoman for Microsoft's Xbox division. "It's what you would expect with a consumer electronics instrument of this complexity .... par for the course." Gaming fanatics lined up for hours Monday to be among the first to purchase the next-generation system, which was in short supply despite its starting price tag of $299.99. Microsoft hopes to sell 2.5 million to 3 million of the new systems in the first 90 days. O'Donnell urged anyone with Xbox problems to call 1-800-4myXbox or go to http://www.xbox.com. If the problems can't be resolved immediately, Microsoft said it will pay to ship the console overnight to a repair center, overnight it back once it's fixed, or ship a replacement.
My 360, and the 4 friends/co-workers who bought them have no complaints about the 360... while 5 people's success isn't exactly a litmus test of all that have been sold, neither are the Sony trolls (10 year olds) going online and b****ing about their 360s not working... even though they don't have one. Over at the official Xbox forums there are a lot of these kids going over there and posting about their 360's not working, but they don't have gamertags with systems registered on them, so they are full of crap... The only problem I've heard that might be widespread is the powersupply overheating, which is easily fixed by getting it up and off the floor and away from the system (you'd think that would be self explanatory). I love mine, Xbox Live makes it all worth while... I'm even happy that I didn't turn around and sell it and make a grand.
Yeah I've had absolutely no problems with my 360 so far. I do need to find another spot for it though. Sitting on the floor will mean cats getting on it = clogged vents. Had a lot of fun with Need for Speed: Most Wanted although the "rubber band" AI (no matter how far ahead or behind you get things will get tightened back up). COD 2 is a great 1st person shooter, need to play Kameo more to make an opinion, and going to start working on PDZ today I think. Anybody wants to add me as a friend let me know. My friends list is a bit bare right now. I need some friends .
I have read several reports from a few boards I visit about the system having glitches or whatever you want to call them, and all the ones I've seen are by people that have been there a while and seemed pretty unbiased to me (or if they're bias, they're not bias against MS ). I think there's even a video online of PGR3 freezing and crashing. I'm not sure what the biggest problem seems to be; you're probably right about the overheating of the power supply being an easy fix, although I think some cases aren't as easy to fix. I think read someone who tried that and it didn't work, but he switched power supplies with a friend, and it worked fine. Could just be some issues with the power supply I guess. I haven't really paid too much attention to these issues since I kind of expected it, being new hardware and all. If it were more widespread, maybe I would be more concerned, but I'm guessing it is just a small percentage of systems out there. However, you could have 40-50 "defective" systems out of 40K-50K out there total, but that will be enough to make a big deal out of it. I'm glad that it appears no one on the BBS is having problems with their system.
Well Microsoft has their beta testers now... until the fixed batch comes out early next year. I think I've pretty much made up my mind to go ahead and wait for the PS3 and see what kind of reviews that gets. The only way I buy an XBox360 now is if the PS3 gets pushed off until the end of next year or further. I just hate the fact that it looks Oblivion on the PC and the PS3 look like they'll be released within the same quarter... maybe the same month. Ugh.
lol i think you totally missed the boat. the people weren't waiting for a 360 they were just waiting for black friday to begin. they just wanted a cheap tv or computer. there certainly weren't any new xbox shipments today.
Just got my OTHER 360 delivered today courtesy Walmart.com. Already got a coworker offering $600 firm for it. BUT, it'll be spread out over a couple of months. Wonder if I can get more. OTOH, I kinda need the money now, so I'll probably just sell it to him.
Not sure if this is a repost... http://cgi.ebay.com/Microsoft-Xbox-...237721584QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem poor, inept father.... That or he's got a great angle
it's not saying that they wouldn't take a return, it's saying that the worker thought he was stupid for returning it and stated that he'd make more money off of it if he sold it on ebay.
I'm addicted to this freaking console... just cancelled my subscription to world of warcraft and am subscribing to GameFly.com. NOTE: Call of Duty 2 on Veteran is FREAKING HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD! The D-Day missions took me 4 and a half hours last night, WOW!
I've been out of town all week (vegas) but I went to the local Sam's Club Tuesday morning...Didn't get my 360... A couple of days b/f, I call two Sam's and they tell me they have 40 units...I'm like, cool...The night b/f, I call again to verify and they confirm 40...Got there at like 6 a.m., thinking there wouldn't be a lot of "Business club" members @ 7 a.m., the store is open to those members only at that time...As I'm driving out of the hotel I turn left to the one that is closest to me... Well, I'm like the 24th person in line, and talking and wondering, wow, there are a lot of business members...Oh, well, they have 40, not big deal...Well, the manager comes out and says they only have 20 and you'll get a ticket...I'm like WTF, i've called 2 - 3 times to confirm, and he says, don't know who you talked to, but we only have 20...then this guy in front of me asks about only letting business memebers in at 7 and he says they will let any member come in and buy one...So they hand the tickets out, I'm #24 so I went back to bed and slept until noon... Moral to the story, pre-order...
It was the managers who gave out the tickets... or are you talking about who gave the info on the number of xboxs they would have? Usually, you can't believe anyone when they give a "number" because they never really know on items such as this until they open up the boxes and get the invoices. I've spoken to a few store managers personally (not in a professional manner, ie I'm not a customer of theirs) and they all have said they didn't know the exact figures on what shipped until a day or two before (when the arrived).
