I just called the local Gamestop to confirm, and the manager said that yes, they were getting shipments in tomorrow, and that they would have Wiis on the shipment. He couldn't nail down what time the shipment comes in. He also said that they didn't force-sell bundles, which is good, IMO.

So, with any luck, I will get a shiny new Wii tomorrow. Or I might just end up waiting around all day and get a shiny new voucher. ;)

Are we talking about Wiis or the original subject matter? :D

Ah! That gave me a little jolt- I called my Gamestop and they didnt get any yesterday. I live in Galveston, so you know how they do here. Everything at the last minute and half-assed.

    Splash!

I scored one! I sweet-talked the girl at Gamestop into taking my name and number down and she called me when the delivery truck got there. I ended up getting the last Wii they had.

    :D

Good luck to everyone else. I think that these will be more and more available over the next few weeks.

You lucky man! I've been calling multiple Gamestops and EB Games and cannot find one. What time did she call you at?

10:30. She said it was all dependent on when UPS showed up. So call 'em and pick their brains- when do their shipments show up? Ask them to take your info down and call you. Bribe them with a pizza. That's what I did, which made the girl that I dealt with laugh, which was the real key. She even said not to bother with the pizza.

You also have to factor in that I live in Galveston, and that not many people shop during the day. You're either at work or school, or you can't afford a Wii.

Anyone have any idea if any stores will have a new shipment tomorrow? WiiSeeker says that all the stores expect shipment on the 17th. However, Best Buy didn't have a shipment last week and it's hard to believe they would go 2 weeks without one.

Well, neither Target and Toys R Us had any. I went early and didn't wait around for Best Buy to open since I figured it'd be the same. They all said next Sunday.
So I guess WiiSeeker was right.

I kinda heard the same thing...My boss is still searching and we stopped by GS again and they said no shipments this week...THey expect Nintendo to ship the remaing 2MM Wii's the next couple of weeks, for their target of 4MM Wii's before year-end...

Wow, 4 million units in two months. That's some serious ground gained on the 360, and some serious space put between them and the ps3. I don't believe the MS spin that they've 'won' the next-gen console race because they project that they will hit 10m consoles in their first year. I really do think that the Wii will give them a run for their money. It's cheaper and has a buzz that is bringing non-gamers or casual gamers into the fold (like me) that would usually wait for the next-gen systems to become lower in price before buying.

At any rate, the 2m more systems over the next few weeks is a good thing for availability. I firmly believe that you guys will get one if you hustle for it. It's worth it, too. :D

They'll probably hit that number, or come close. Not all those consoles will be sold though (some might even be "in the pipeline" by December 31st).

It would be interesting to see if Nintendo can hit their 4M target. I figured they'd be able to easily (the hardware isn't that complicated after all), but then again, I thought they'd easily be able to have 900K-1M units at launch the US. Maybe the Wii is harder to manufacture than I thought...or Nintendo wanted to limit supply at launch to increase the hype.

If things go smoothly for them, it probably wouldn't take them too long to surpass the 360 in sales (this obviously depends on a number of factors of course). Could possibly be sometime next year if the 360 continues to do poorly in Japan and Europe, and only "OK" in NA/US.

i thought nintendo already confirmed that they would not be meeting their 1 million shipped goal? 4 million sounds like an impossiblity at this point especially since it's harder to get than a ps3

dont' get me wrong, that would be great if they did because the rest of us could actually get one without stalking

You're talking about 1M in America by the end of the year, right? FWIW, I think maybe around 1.75M Wiis have already been shipped (and probably sold) worldwide. The 4M figure is for the world (2M was the initial end-of-the-year target for NA IIRC).

I don't believe Nintendo confirmed they wouldn't have a million by the end of the year. There was some confusion of a press release where they took out a statement that said they would though. I guess that can count as confirmation.

Nintendo Retracts 1M Wiis in U.S. Statement

Is Nintendo doubtful that it can ship/sell 1 million Wii consoles in the U.S. before the year ends? It's starting to look that way, as the company has retracted a statement proclaiming its 1 million sales goal for the U.S. More within...

Yesterday Nintendo of America issued a release trumpeting the success of their portables, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, which sold 641K and 918K units respectively according to the latest NPD figures. All told, when combining Wii sales, DS sales, GBA sales and GameCube sales, Nintendo sold 2.1 million of the 3.9 million video game systems sold in the U.S. during November, capturing 55 percent of the market.

Interestingly, if a recent press release correction is any indication, Nintendo may not be as sure that they will sell one million Wiis in the U.S. in 2006 as previously thought. The Wii sold at a rate of more than 70,000 a day for the seven days represented in NPD's November data, and Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has said that Nintendo would have one million Wiis in the U.S. in early December, with two million shipped by mid-January.

Today, however, Nintendo of America alerted the media that its statement from yesterday which read, "Despite spot shortages in some locations, well more than a million Wii systems will be available in the United States by the end of the year," has been retracted and should be ignored.

So what does this mean? Nintendo did not say why that statement should be disregarded, but one can only assume that either they are having more difficulty with manufacturing than they let on, or perhaps more likely, they are sufficiently satisfied with the U.S. launch numbers and want to divert some of the shipments to Japan and Europe, which haven't been allocated quite as many systems (especially Europe).

GameDaily BIZ has contacted Nintendo for further comment and will update accordingly.
