It is good to have a son who has developed relationships with gamers and game shop employees over the years. A friend of his at GameStop (Software etc) put us on their list and called me last night around 8:30. I was able to go pick one up for my granddaughter for Christmas. No hassles.
I wasn't overly optimistic, given that it IS Wal-Mart we are dealing with here. Like any other store, the people who work there make the experience.
I need to buy a Wii for xmas for my brother, but still cannot find one... i guess at the least i can get a ebgames giftcard in the amount of a new wii...
Holy crap...Just went to 3 Gamestops...We were 5 - 6 in line in two of the stores and got nothing, although, we got there around noon...The first store, we got there 10 minutes before the UPS truck came...The problem was, they only got 3... We went to another one, and they got 3, but in was in the morning...The last one, well, the FedEx guy still hadn't came and we had to go to work...I did get a PS3...will elaborate in the PS3 thread... Apparently Target gets them on Sunday (dallas) and GameStops on Wednesday...
Send me 500 bucks. I'll buy him one, and I'll consider the extra 250 a Christmas present from you, and buy myself one with it.
This past sunday I walked into the new Target at Sawyer heights (I-10 and Sawyer just west of downtown) at about 8:07 (opens at 8:00am) and they had a guy directing for Wiis. They had an order of 10 and I picked up one easily..they had them on a cart in the front of the store. Then I did some shopping and when I left at 8:30 they they still had a few in stock, moved them back to the games section behind the glass, not many people looking for them there I guess.
I was number 10 in line at the Walmart at 6am this morning......they had 9... So, I go to Sam's club they are getting in 18 supposedly and am number 19 in line...... They got ZERO in.....may try again in the morning. DD
I was at WalMart at 11:30 last night because a manager told my wife they'd release them at midnight. She went this morning but they were gone. If we don't get one this year we're not going to sweat it. I wonder how many will be available right before Xmas...
I went to Walmart at 5:30pm yesterday because they were going to release them at midnight....... and they told me they changed it....what was worse was the Walmart at South Park Meadows just let you put your name on a list and come pick them up at 8am the next morning. The last person signed up at 10:30pm the night before....GRRRRR !! DD
I am going to try to get one tomorrow. I will start crying to the Target Employees if they tell me they are sold it. I will say "Christmas is ruuuuiineeeed... *sob**Sob*".
When the quality suffers, people notice. While cheaply made games have a higher profit margin, games like Zelda and FF are rewarded by being in the top 10% sold. A watered down Zelda or FF wouldn't do as well. The industry has grown from a crowd of males age 13-28. They don't vanish when different groups pick up gaming, and I don't think they'll settle for mediocre games when gaming has become much more expensive.
My dad is in charge of a Target. He is always calling me asking if I want a Wii when they come in. I can probably land one or two. Im a Playstation face so I am not interested. Lemme know and Ill keep an eye out for yall...
There is a rumor that gamestop/ebgames will have some for sale tomorrow (friday) and the other retail outlets will be selling them on the weekend again (sunday)?
Well after 3 hours waiting yesterday and 6 more today at the local Sam's club, I GOT.........a voucher. DD
The only brick and mortar store that forced a bundle was Toys R Us. The bundle was $289.99 with a game and a controller sleeve. If you purchase the Wii online you will be forced to purchase it with a bundle, but other than that the other retail outlets are selling the Wii w/o bundles.
DD- Quit trying so hard! You know the old story about the old bull and the young bull, right? I'm sure you'll snag one soon.
