Waited in line starting at 3am in front of Target. I was #21 and they had 69 units. When they handed out tickets at 7am (1 hour before opening) there were still only 60 people in line so they had 9 extra. Lots of parents came right around opening though, so the extras are long gone by now. I just got the console with Zelda and an extra remote so I can make parents fall in love with some 2 player Wii Sports. They did a fairly good job of organizing things. People in the line were extremely civil so no problem there. They gave us all tickets at 7am and then when they opened at 8am they had us file into the store in a single line that passed by a stand with games and accessories on it. That's when it got a little out of order, because the stand was 2-sided and people basically just crowded around it once they got close enough. Made it kind of tough to get the line back to single file, and some people were calling from back in the line for other people to start handing them things. No biting or hair pulling incidents though. All in all I'm not complaining. Which Toys 'R Us was this? The one next to the Target I was at (on Bay Area Boulevard in Clear Lake) had nobody in line at 3am when I drove past to go wait at Target. I doubt that's the one you're talking about though, because I believe they don't open until 11am. So obviously you wouldn't have your Wii yet.
Reposting this so it's on the new page... 3 Wii Games for 105 Shipped I just got Monkey Ball, Trauma Center, and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Unfortunately (VERY unfortunately) I now live in Chicago, so it probably wouldn't be very helpful to anyone, but I went to the one in Berwyn
I went to Best Buy in Sugar Land, only had to wait in line for 2 1/2 hours and was number 45 out of 63 who got a Wii.
I might have seen you. I missed the cutoff by about 10 at Target but still picked up Zelda and a controller then headed over to Best Buy about 30 minutes before they opened (on Westheimer and Hwy 6). They had close to 100 units and I was #64 in line. Sweet!
My TRU had 50 in stock and the Best Buy across the street had 80. If you opened a TRU credit card through Chase (in store) you could get 10% off and still receive the $10 gift card if you spent over $75 (not appliable towards hardware). I saved over $40 thanks to this.
I just tried to get the same bundle as you but it would only do the $30 off. It would not accept the other coupon to get it down to $105 with shipping included. Edit: My bad, you have to click the Donate to Toys for Tots button first. It's down to $96 bucks now.
Well I fell asleep last night so I didn't go get mine at midnight. I went this morning when the store opened. I walked in and walked out in less than 2 minutes. I came home and because my son was gone I had about an hour to play before I had to put it up (It is a gift from Santa). I only have Wii Sports (Zelda is enroute)> I really enjoyed playing. The game experience is truly different than the norm. It took me a few minutes to get the feel for the controller but after I figured it out, it was on. I realize i can't bowl for crap, I am a darn good tennis player and I swing too early on fastballs. One of my concerns was how well the control would actually, control. That was answered almost immediately. The thing performs very smoothly. Way better than I originally expected. My goal is to pull it back out tonight after the kids go to bed and hook up the wireless internet. I may even be able to talk my wife into trying out a game (she hates everything but the original centipede). Oh yeah, this is definitely a system for kids whose parents want them to get more exercise. I worked up a sweat just playing the limited amount that I did. It was probably the most fun workout I have ever had.
This thing is badass!!!! The controller alone is worth the price, imo. Wii sports is awesome. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to connect it to my router for wireless internets. I'm as giddy as a pre-pubescent school girl!
I tried doing that but they said something was down and they couldn't process apps for new credit cards I've played around with the Wii a fair amount so far. No internet yet -- my wireless access point is on the fritz, so I haven't been able to get that running yet, unfortunately. I played all the Wii sports, and they're pretty fun. A bit difficult to get the hang of some of them (tennis really rocked my world at first), but once you get the hang of it, they're fun as hell. ExciteTruck is pretty fun -- I dunno if I'd recommend buying it, but it's a neat arcade-style racer. Has an old-school feel to it, IMO. I've never actually played any Zelda games before (I played the GBA one for like 30 minutes, but that's it), so I don't have any base of reference for it. So far though, it's really pretty cool. The Wiimote is really awesome. It works pretty well, and is pretty comfortable to hold. And the Mii thing is probably really awesome (can't wait until I can get internet working -- may pick up a new WAP today too). You can save characters to your Wiimote, so I did that and am heading over to a friend's place (he also got a Wii), and we'll see how that works. Anyways, I sort of regret buying it because I really can't afford spending the money on it, but it's REALLY cool, I really like it, and I think it's going to totally rock when more games come out for it. When I was Wii Sports, I kept thinking about how much my parents would probably like it, and they hate this stuff! So far, a few hours in, it looks like a home-run for Nintendo.
I previously had a wired router and I bought a wireless one just for my wii...installing now, have yet to play zelda...want to savor every moment and wii sports is just too fun, especially with 2 people. grats to everyone who got one, and to anyone who is waiting you won't be disappointed.
Well, first impressions do seem really positive (not just here, but on other boards). I might have to snag me one sometime next year...maybe have a Christmas in July event at my house with a new PS3 and Wii. I'll have to try it before hand of course, but I doubt my impressions will vary that much from what has already been said (even the skeptics seemed impressed). Eh...might try to wait for a price cut just to satisfy the techie in me. Hopefully Nintendo will try to respond to a 360 price cut next year (even if it means just a $200 Wii w/o Wii Sports). That would be nice.
it's worth the 250...wii sports in bonkers...wii boxing needs a bit of work and wii golf isn't perfect...but it's all fun and the other games are phenomenal especially with 2 players.
has anyone added the ******* internet channel yet? I thought it was supposed to be free edit: nm I see it's not up yet, sadface..does anyone know why the blue light doesn't light up much? is wiiconnect24 not up yet or something?
Freaking hell, I am so glad I got one of these. You know how with some things you spend a few hundred bucks and then (let's be honest) you spend a while trying to convince yourself that it was worth it? THIS SH!!T IS WORTH EVERY PENNY AND I ALREADY KNOW IT! I've only played Wii Sports solo, but holy crap it's fun. Anybody who knows me outside the BBS knows I'm in pretty decent shape, and this thing has me exhausted right now. Exhausted with one of these on my face ----> Couldn't be happier about my purchase! It really has changed the definition of a videogame.
