Because not many stores are doing preorders. There are the Gamestops/EB Games, but they only get a limited amount each. Toys r Us had a preorder, but it was only open for a little while.
Did you get it from the Toys r Us on Westheimer? That was the only one showing as midnight opening on Wiiseeker. I thought about going then got lazy. I'll pick it up in the morning.
Hopefully showing up at 4 or 5ish will guarantee me one. I'm usually a night owl but I can't stand sitting outside of a store for 10-12 hours. FYI- BestBuy.com says their stores open at 9 AM tomorrow CircuitCity.com says their stores open at 10AM tomorrow
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-entertainment/wii-launch-nyc-5000-wiis-in-times-square-215829.php They had 5000 Wiis btw. Also, Target says they're open at 8am. I'm gonna swing by to check them out and go to Walmart or Best Buy if they're not open.
I went to the Walmart here in Alvin, and missed getting one by 1 spot. I only stood in line for a couple of hours. If I was just a few minutes earlier... I got "Red Steel" and a n-chuck controller though... Zelda was sold out with the last Wii. Maybe I'll hit up Best Buy in the a.m.
Hehe...thought this review was funny (Gamespot review of GT Pro Series): http://www.gamespot.com/wii/driving/gtproseries/review.html?sid=6162042 Spoiler I'll go ahead and go through a list of games already reviewed by Gamespot that are good (according to them anyway). I'll include Metacritic averages where available: Zelda TP 8.8 (98) Super Monkey Ball: BB 8.3 (79) Trauma Center 8.0 (81) Some games to avoid (according to GS scores below 7): Excite Truck 6.8 (72) Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam 6.0 (78) Red Steel 5.5 Rampage 5.1 GT Pro Series 5.1...good for the wheel add-on though. GS hasn't reviewed Madden, COD3, Rayman, or MUA yet, but those will probably go under the first category (COD3 and MUA have 80+ ratings at Metacritic so far). IGN gave the first three the following scores: 8.5, 7.7, 8.3 (MUA wasn't reviewed by them either). Can't remember if there are any other notable games that are still missing off the top of my head...
Target in Sugarland has a decent sized line right now. Toys R Us has about 10 people there, Walmart did midnight launches, so the one I went to earlier was already out I think. I was out in search of an open store, (only Walmart) that sold entertainment centers/TV stands....I decided I'll wait and go to Best Buy or somewhere else later.
i need my accessories for the wii. i hope the people in line for the console will directly head after the console while i'll swoop in for the accessories and games at Target.
So much for the 'you'll just be able to walk into a store and get one' theory. Ebay prices have gone up to about 700.
FYI. Circuit City Bundle up for sale on website right now. Go...Go....Go.... EDIT: Sears.com...just the console...on sale online right now.
Just got back from Target on Wilcrest and Westheimer I was number 24 and the cutoff was 21 so I missed the cutoff.. I got Zelda and another remote and N-Chuck, then I noticed a woman on the phone that had gotten one like number 10 or so.. She was on the phone with her credit card company and I asked if I could have the system if her card wont work, they said "YES".. I thought I was gonna land it, but after her being on the phone for 20 mins she was able to get it authorized.. I was soooo close, oh well back to my regular scheduled Sunday.. Good luck everyone who is in the hunt today..
Just got back from picking one up at Toys R Us. They did a really good job handling it -- they separated pre-order people from regular buyers at around 15 minutes to open, then gave all the regular buyers tickets. They lined everyone up, took the pre-orders in first, then the regulars. They explained the different things that could be purchased, then when we were inside, they had someone go through the line and ask what games, accessories people wanted. Then they brought them to you. Really, really well-organized. They had a fair number of them (didn't run out of tickets, even after the doors were open). I got there about an hour early and there was NO ONE there, so I went and got some breakfast, came back and there was a small line. I got in line 30 mins before the store opened, and it was all good. Ended up buying: Wii Extra Wiimote and Nunchuck Classic Controller ExciteTruck Zelda Just about to open my Wii and see how it is
