If the Rockets hit the 1 seed without Yao, Mac will be the MVP.

    That's borderline impossible though.

If we hit the 1 seed without Yao, it will have been a team effort. No MVP's on the Rox, LeBron has it locked up already.

    Yeah...

First of all, the Rockets are succeeding by playing excellent TEAM basketball. T-Mac doesn't need to carry the team as much as people think, because we have such great role players who can go off for 20 on any given night. I won't be mad at all if T-Mac doesn't get consideration. Kobe, LeBron or CP3 deserve it more anyways. They're putting up ridiculous numbers and their teams are winning.

I'll settle for our great group of guys who play team ball. This is what you dream about as a basketball fan, but rarely see. The chemistry is great, the guys have confidence in each other, and we're showing it on the scoreboard.

    GO ROCKETS.

Not true, regardless of how the Rockets do it - if we lock up the 1 seed and Mac is putting up his customary 25/5/5 he'll get the credit.

The easiest example of this would be KG in Boston. The superstar player on the team always gets the credit.

along with that, lebron has been more efficient (shooting 48%), more free throw attempts, and has been a superb defender this yr.

the reason kobe gets the nod is b/c of his 3 rings and his perceived ability to "win" when he hasn't without shaq.

if lebron had bynum, odom, or gasol, u don't think he can lead that team too?

so your saying lebron is more valuable to his above average .500 team than kobe was when he was carrying a mediocre lakers to a slighty above .500 record?

im not saying whose more valuable to their team than who, but lebron THIS YEAR isnt doing aything kobe hasnt done IN THE PAST 2 YEARS prior to this season.

lebron is playing with nobodies, but the cavs (last year) were a top 5 rebounding team. they played great team defense. they decided to dump a horrid contract in hughes for another defensive presence in ben.

kobe played with talent guys, but they didnt have a grasp of the triangle offense. now theyre finally getting it together, and now with pau, theyre looking like the favorites to come out the west.

this isnt a kobe > lebron thread, its a "if kobe did everything humanly possible to carry his team to the playoffs, putting up ridiculous stats and couldnt win mvp, why is lebron being mentioned?"

isnt the mvp code for "best player on the best team" award? thats why nash has 2 and dirk has one. because phx and dal have been the best teams for the past 3 years. and dirk and nash are their teams best players.

I would love it but he's not going to get it.

You know Kobe isn't even going to get MVP, right? It will most likely be KG or LeBron.

......which brings up the question again:
Why is this the "official" thread
...and why even bring this up when there's no chance in hell Tmac will win the award?
Lets save this until he repeats what he did last year-and thats taking us to the playoffs (and ironically was how he became one of the finalists for MVP award).

If Kobe gets the MVP, maybe that will light up a fire in T-Mac and he'll demonstrate as to why among all guards, Kobe might rival him, but IS NOT BETTER THAN T-MAC. :D

i think tmac may be getting that swagger back. from the denver's game, did u see how he just stared down anthony, kmart (a pretty good defender), najera, and just used some fancy ball-handling and just blew by them at certain times? . that's why i know he has all the confidence in the world.

he could have easily busted out 30+ pts these past 3 games since yao's been out but he's choosing his spots. i'm really proud of how he's been playing lately.

i've never been more impressed with the passion he's showing lately.

tmac will NEVER win an MVP b/c he can never play a whole season injury-free and thus never play at a high level for a full 82 games. but as long as he's playing like this for 90% of the time to help us win, he can be the MVP in the playoffs.

notice how he can rest in the first half b/c he gets others involved. if the role players can keep doing this in the playoffs, u can expect a 30, 7, 7 playoff performance.

I think the MVP goes to Kobe, but if Tmac continues to play like this, he will win it.
