I understand that. I was huge fan of Jordan back in the day even though I loved the Rockets. Overall, I would say I enjoy watching Tmac play because of his offensive talent on the court, which isn't evident by most players in the league. However, what I don't understand are the people that are only his fans and prefer the Rockets to lose so he looks good. Hopefully, there aren't too many of these individuals lying around.
Exactly, I was sort of spilit between the Rockets and Bulls when I was younger. Then TMAC came to Houston and I became a full-fledged rockets fan. I remember saying that when TMac left I'd switch teams. I haven't... and never wear.
I thought this was all because he bumped knees a couple times in a game, therefore he's not doing so well. He looked fine before that. He seemed to only complain of being tired and out of shape. He didn't say anything about his knee(s) until he basically injured them when he banged knees twice in that one game. At least that was my understanding. So to sit and talk about how he was ready to play and was full of it with the Rockets doesn't hold. He has pretty crappy luck to attempt his "comeback" and then re-injure his knee(s). Again, I could be misinterpreting what's happened and what you are saying, but that's what it looks like happened to me.
Honestly, when did McGrady first hurt his knee? I got a few things to say about his situation. It would be sad to see anybody in his situation right now, his knee is seriously ****ed up and I haven't seen a player decline so badly physically so quickly, even Grant or Penny. Anyways, I believe when Yao surprisingly shut it down for the season with his injury a few years back, McGrady should of as well. It was a high risk, high reward thing for him because he came back during a winning streak and clearly wasn't at 100 percent but tried to play through it. His reward was the 22 game win streak which mostly all true Rocket fans will remember forever. Ultimately, I believe he would of been in a better state of condition (not needing microfracture and fully recovering) if he did not continue to play through his knee pain he had. He should of just shut it down with Yao. He would of had 8+ months to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery which is clearly enough even if he slacked off a little bit.
TheGreat, he would've been OK if he actually LISTENED to the million doctors who told him to just play on the knee and strengthen it instead of opting for the microfracture surgery. The surgery was just an act to show people that his knee REALLY is messed up, which is not true considering that doctors told him that all he needs to do was play on it and it will regain strength slowly but surely. McGrady bailed on the team last year, and karma is a b!tch. Did he expect to just pop right back up and go back to "elite status"? He's getting what he deserves, and hopefully he won't get a good contract next year. I wish this guy nothing good. And what's sad is that at one point he was my favorite player in the NBA. But the disappointment and heart break he put me through year after year has turned this big fan into a big hater, screw him.
The thing is, if you can't shrug off a knee bump, chance is you don't have adequate muscle to endure a full season. TMac never had good work ethic to begin with. Coupled with his ball demanding on offense, stand still on defense style and bad attitude, it's a huge risk for any picker. He's looking exactly the Starbury and AI situation. 50% odds he'll retire, another 50% he'll be picked up by a noname team, can't get minutes competing with young guys, and retire with no one even noticing it.
I dunno bro. I missed dunk would lend some proof that something wasn't right. Dunking should be EASY for a guy his size, length, and athleticism. Even a reverse one like the one he got hung on. It wasn't a hard dunk he attempted. He didn't try to throw it down hard. Just tried to go reverse real easy. He almost hit the underside of the rim. I'm not saying he gets special treatment, and hasn't dictated his playing time by manipulating things. But the decision to have surgery I really do think was b/c his knee wasn't right to him. And it appeared when he started playing in NY, his knee looked fine. As my post said, he seemed to only complain of being tired...until he banged knees twice in that one game. Maybe it's mental, maybe it's real, but you have surgery on your knee and then bang it twice...you are going to completely change your tune about your health and playing at a certain level.
I have been a Rockets fan my whole life. When McGrady was in Orlando, I bacame a fan of his. (Very similar to LeBron now) It was just a coincidence that he got traded to the rockets, my favorite team. (Again, imagine if LeBron got traded to the Rockets) I am sure things would have worked out better if he wasn't so damn injury prone. Even if it wasn't him, it seemed like every Rocket season, there were always key Rocket players always getting injured. I am still a fan of his playing style, but of course I am a Rocket fan first and foremost. He is just one of the many players that I follow outside of the Rockets now.
it has nothing to do with his knee getting banged. It has everything to do with the microfracture. I've had it done. If you aren't healed and you push yourself too much then you feel it for days and days after. Tmac isn't healthy yet. He won't be till next year no matter what he wants to tellhimself.
You think he will be ready by the start of next season 100 percent with more rehab and I believe 18 months in?
McGrady himself has said he can't hurt anything. I understand that knee bump is painful, but the knee should be structurally sound. He just doesn't know whether he is coming or going. People say he's mentally soft and for the last 2 seasons he's been talking a tough game and consistently fallen short. He'd do himself a huge favor to not overstate his progression or situation, bit he's knows nothing of subtlety or playing it close to the vest. His mouth won't dictate his next contract, but he hasn't figured this out yet. It's a shame.
is there any video out there of him actually bumping knees w/ anyone? he claims he bumped knees w/ two people, but he never said who.
