I don't think the 3-point shot to tie ever reached 10 feet elevation at any point after it left his hand...wow that was flat. No lift from his legs at all.
This is his dream team.. No repercussions for losing, No defensive schemes, No need to push the ball, It's OK if he stops the ball because no one cares, Can take himself in and out of the line up if he so feels.. This must be what basketball is like in heaven..
yup no pressure for winning a championship, playoff run, winning an mvp, nothing. and be the highest paid player in the league. awesome. Kobe maybe better, but Tmac has it easy.
this is true, he had a bucket in the second quarter that actually wowed me at how well he moved through the post and got the easy leftie layup. He needs to take advantage of the small defenders in the post more often now, maybe once he heats up in the post he can step outside for the treys.
First of all, I'm not a McGrady hater. Secondly, you hit the nail on the head. Coming to the Knicks at the deadline (and not when he first left the Rockets) was the best thing that ever could have happened to McGrady.
Exactly. By taking off multiple possessions on the defensive end and by frequently being the last guy to make it up the court on the offensive end before camping out on the perimeter when the ball isn't in his hands, he has a huge positive impact on the other team's chance of winning the game. He's made a a few nice drives to the basket. Those will become increasingly rare as time goes on while the contested 20-foot line drives will become more and more common. His passing is still very good but it's not nearly as dangerous as when he used to require a double team. McGrady is an immensely talented player but his body has permanently checked out on him. He's not even worth an MLE contract. He'll only want to play for a good team next season and I don't think any good team will offer him much money or playing time. He may get to ride the pine on a slightly above average team if he doesn't come to his senses and retire while he can still walk.
im a tmac fan, but im realistic enough to know that he cant come back right away from this kind of surgery, if ever. but it's important for tmac to play actual games to gauge where he is really at. if he's lost his step, his elevation, these things you wont know in practice games or being played for 7mins a game. so i agree that the knicks is the best thing that has happened to mcgrady since the surgery. he gets to figure out what he can still do, and the knicks get a few games to see if tmac can be part of them moving forward. he may feel a 100%, but he needs to realize what are the new limits of his body post surgery.
Exactly. I called it a few months back that McGrady was dreaming of landing on a lottery bound team where he could dominate the ball and have no consequences for his style of play. He got what he wished for and I expect (if he stays on the court) he will put up some stats that might lead a contender to sign him to a short term deal. That's phase two of his plan. The problem is that he'll never fit it on a talented team with Championship aspirations. I don't think he has admitted that to himself yet. I still predict he retires out of frustration before next Christmas once he and the team that signs him realizes he has nothing positive to offer a contending team.
