lol. or it's just that the knicks match up well with the hawks (they are 3-0 v. them this year). if u actually watched the nets game, the knicks built a HUGE lead with him in the first. it'd be nice if u watch the knicks WITH tmac rather than just generalize.
T-Mac would be the GOAT if NBA games lasted 12 minutes. In the real world, the Knicks were -6 against the Nets with Tracy on the court.
I've watched the Knicks with and without McGrady but missed the Nets game. Looking at the box score, it looks like the Knicks just collapsed after the 1st quarter. I'm guessing that coincided with McGrady's effort level. So my question about his effect on the attitude of the other Knicks still stands. If he plays with energy, fine. But when he's out there slacking, it destroys them. Not knowing what they will get from him game to game completely nukes any rhythm they could hope to build to finish the season. If he doesn't start bringing it every game and continues playing the yoyo, the Knicks will implode worse than ever.
One thing I noticed about watching the Knicks is when Rodriguez is in the game, the Knicks are actually running D'antoni's offense by running up and down the court. When McGrady is in the game, he's basically walking the ball up the court. Not sure why D'antoni hasn't done anything about this. I'm pretty sure McGrady may actually benefit from running more on offense so he can get more adrenaline pumping during the course of the game and feel loss sore when he's on the court.
in the games tracy was running PG, offense was never the problem. in a game v. the nets where the knicks lost by 20, and tmac's +/- is only -6, i don't think anything coincided with his effort. they started losing the lead the moment tracy left the game with 2 fouls in the first quarter. one thing i have to agree with is that if tracy does want a career in the NBA, he has to find a way to maintain a type of consistency game in and game out not only with his effort, but his production. right now, he doesn't have it yet. but he's playing 9 games for the first time in 2 years, and esp. after MFS. so i'll see how he ends the year. as expected, there are games where he teases you that he is still so good despite being so limited athletically. but then there are games where he doesn't do much outside of his good passing. if this type of inconsistency still occurs when he ends the year, it's going to be a problem.
Okay, I'm done with this "hasn't played in TWO YEARS" horsecrap. Tracy McGrady played 35 games LAST SEASON, including a 10 out of 11 game stretch 14 months ago. His last game last season was 13 months ago, and he was logging more minutes then than he has been as a Knick. Quit stretching the truth. At best, he had an extended offseason. To say he hasn't played in TWO YEARS goes well past stretching the truth. At least the Apologist Camp isn't still trying to play the "knocked knees" BS card. You don't have to buy in 100% every time he spits out a new one from his random excuse generator. The "out of shape" line rings false after all those Chicago workouts and declaring himself ready to go in early November.
Hasn't played in 2 years - much like all the heroics he accomplished "on one leg" prior to that. The guy is simply a marvel.
Like most players, McGrady's effort determines his production. It's possible he won't be pain-free for long periods of time for the rest of his career. If he doesn't learn to suck it up, a yoyo effort is what he'll give. What won't surprise me at all is to see McGrady decide to suck it up the last 10-12 games of the season while playing for a contract next year. Then next year after he's signed somewhere, he reverts back to form during next season.
Yao hasn't been complaining all season saying his foot is "100%" and that he's "ready to go" Yao didn't whine all season about not getting to play depite being "totally healthy" Yao has not used the media as his way to communicate
it's not about hypothetical situations, this is something a certain portion of the board does not understand. what happened is concrete. what would have happen brings up infinite situations. for example. what if we got rudy gay? see? that weighs no more merit that what if tmac wasn't hurt also, based on his history, tracy has been hurt plenty of times in his career prior to portland. this ain't brett favre. you could go to the toyota center during the 2nd round of the playoffs this year and tell the usher to let you in because "WE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE 2nd ROUND IF TRACY AND YAO WEREN'T HURT" then they'll call HPD to send you to the asylum. you can print out imaginary what if tracy took us to the nba finals tickets too. that's exactly what 'what if' is. imaginary.
Whats more ironic than anything is someone coming in here trying to rationalize the NY Knicks attitude in a loss. Psst.. THEY SUCK HOMEBOY THEY SUCKED ALL YEAR Some of you guys are probably pulling shoulder ligaments out of alignment reaching this hard.
