Thank You Rudy. For bringing Houston the championship it deserved and for in a time of scandal in coaching being a standout for character. We will never underestimate the Heart of A Champion. Thank You again, Founder of MARH Members Againist Rocket Hating.
Thanks, Rudy. [EVERYBODY TOGETHER] Ru-dy... Ru-dy... Ru-dy... Ru-dy.. That's from the movie RUDY, if you don't remember... THANKS for the great memories. I know you're not a quitter... you're a champion... "...and I mean that with the true sense of the word..."
My favorite Rudy moment happened I believe two years ago against the Pacers. It was the famous Triple OT game where Moochie hit 3 pointer after 3 pointer in the final OT. I remember watching Rudy as the game went into each OT. The man was slowly losing more and more articles of clothing. First he loosened his tie, then he unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, then he lost the jacket. The man looked like hell at the end of the game...it was awesome. I don't think you'll ever find a coach that put his heart and soul into the game as much as Rudy. We'll NEVER have a coach with anywhere near the heart of Rudy T. The man is awesome, and we will never see a guy like him ever again in Houston. 30+ years in an organization, 2 championships, 1 of a kind... The last remnant of Clutch City is gone... For the sentimental posters out there, I recommend you give the Houston Rocket Memory Mix (Brought by Clutch) a listen.
As a new fan of the rocket and a person who does not always like Rudy's style of coaching, I think rudy is a good coach and absolutely GREAT person. Everyone can notice that he gives all of his heart and effort to the Rocket team. My best wishes for him.
Rudy you will be missed. I don't believe I have ever heard of any other players, other than Rocket players, who had so much respect for their coach. Everytime you heard the Rockets talking about Rudy it was how much he respected them and they respected him. In most players words, he was a 'players coach'... Rudy will not be coaching on the floor of our new arena next year... Well, it was a fun ride and now the ride's over... Thanks for some wonderful Rockets memories and two beautiful NBA Championships!!!
seeing how we are moving into a new arena this year you think the rocket organization would name the court after Rudy T much like how the lakers named their court after chick hearn? After all he has done for the franchise its the least they can do to show their appreciation imo. Personally i do hope him well and will truly miss the enthusiasm he brought to every game and he is a class act good luck Rudy T most of all the 95 speed that brought tears to my eyes
I'll miss seeing Rudy on the sidelines but not the results of iso ball on the court. He was a great guy to have around and I hope he stays with the club in some capacity. I wish him the best whatever he does and hope his health problems clear up. He's been great for this franchise but I think his day was done.
First of all, I'd like to thank Rudy for finally giving us Houston sports fans something to brag about (especially nice for us living outside of Houston). He proved to be the final piece of the puzzle in cementing the legend of my favorite NBA player ever. I also think that the title of Mr. Houston Rocket does not belong to Hakeem or Clavin Murphy, but deservedly goes to Rudy. May Rudy continue his Rocket legacy as a great executive. My favorite memory as Rudy the coach comes from a moment that many has heard but hasn't seen. It was between Game 1 and Game 2 of the'95 Finals and the Roxs just upset the Magic in Game 1. In practice the following day. Rudy, feeling his players might have been a little too smug, got on them during practice. And the rest is history. IMO, Rudy was as valuable as any player during those championship years. Best of luck to you Mr. Rocket!!
Realy I hope this is just a hoax but just incase its realy true I just wanted to say thank you for all the wonerful entertainment that 'your' Houston Rockets have brought to my household. I do hope that you will still be part of the organisation and that your happy face will be seen by your supporters. What ever the reason is that you wont be the Head Coach anymore I still hope you will love the Rockets and not be too offended by what has happened. The best of health to you and your family. PS> Did you ever get the Hakeem statue?
Even though I usually take every opportunity to bash Rudy. He has been nothing but a class act and has been a great ambassador for the Rockets and for Houston. I hope he wins a championship where ever he ends up.
Thanks, Rudy T for just being Rudy Tomjanovich... Your a class act and hope you stay with the Rockets Organization for years to come... Get well... And God Bless you and your family...
sorry... had to bring this thread back... no reason for it being on the second page of active threads.
Rudy T is a class act. He treated his players with utmost respect and dignity. He loved the organization and the city. He gave his heart for the Rockets. Today is a sad day. I pray for his health. I hope that he recovers quickly. Never underestimate the heart of a champion.
Thanks for blending the superstars like Clyde and Hakeem with great roleplayers, like the jet, and horry. Thanks for working wonders with players like Mario Ellie, Othella Harrington, Mat Bullard, Chuckie Brown, and Sam Mack while he was here. Other teams passed on these guys or didn't get anywhere near the production out of them when they played on the other teams. Thanks for being such a class act. You could have been a high profile coach like Riley or Jackson. You had the success to do that, but you always reflected the praise toward your team, and unlike those guys didn't seek out the media, and the spotlight. Thanks for being so dedicated, and working so hard at your job. Thanks for bringing home a medal with only college players on your team, when George Karl landed in 6th place with a team full of pros.
I admit I was one of Rudy T's most harshest critics but I will never question his heart and desire to make the Rockets and the city of Houston something we all could be proud of. Thanks Rudy, I really appreciate the good (and bad) times. I really wish you and your family well
