Rudy, thanks for the memories and all of the hard work that you put into the Rockets organization. Could someone post the Soup Commander pic please?
My favorite moment of Rudy was when John starks last miss shot in Game 6 finals (94) while Rudy and the Rockets were celebrating and when moochie buried the knicks with a last second shot while Rudy was pumped up. We're gonna miss U.
I will miss you, Rudy. My abiding image of Rudy was when someone was about to take a clutch 3, Rudy's arms would go in the air as the ball was on it's way up And then when it went in, his head would go back. Arms outstretched, head back, roaring with glee. God I loved that.
Rudy T was the best and I hoped he wouldn't be out as coach. I thought he could eventually take the Rockets back to the mountaintop, as his players continued to mature. I first continue to pray that Rudy T has a full recovery. He's a good family man, has three great kids (I have met his son a few times and he's a terrific guy). RT's health is the most important thing out of all this. As for what he did as coach. Two titles, I am so greatful for that. I have two championship posters hanging on in wall and a big reason for that is Rudy T. I also thought Rudy overachieved with the 2000-2001 Rockets, a 45-37 season. I wonder how much Sleeping Monkey appreaciates Rudy T.
Forgot to add, Rudy was the first Rockets coach to beat the Sonics in the playoffs. I hated the Sonics with a passion back then.
No one bleeds Rockets red like Rudy T. Best Rockets coach ever. I'll be very sad to see anyone else trying to fill his shoes. Rudy T helped transform Houston from Choke City to Clutch City. Without Rudy T, there'd be no heart of a champion in Houston. Man, this really bums me out!
Rudy - heart of a champion, balls ... errr guts ('94 press conference reference, for those who remember), and the epitome of class. Thanks for the memories and best o' luck.
One of the classiest guys in sports. The guy who brought Clutch City to Houston sports fans. Rudy, when Yao leads the Rockets to the championship some day, you'll be remembered as a part of that success.
One of my favorite memories of Rudy T... 1993. Vernon Maxwell had just hit a buzzer beater at San Antonio to extend our record to 22-1. Rudy and the rest of the bench celebrated like they had already won the championship. The 1994 title was a mere formality. I suggest erecting a Rudy statue like that of Hakeem!!
It saddens me to witness the end of an great era. Thanks, Rudy. You were one of the true Houston pillars (w/ Clyde & Hakeem) of our title run that brought dignity and class to the city, which made winning a title so much more worthwhile and meaningful. Because of this, my username here was dedicated to your memory, and it came from listening to Geno on the radio back in your playing days: "Left side to Tomjanovich, T.......two!" I wish you a speedy recovery and hope we continue to see and hear you with the Rockets family.
i don't know if any of you remember this.... i can't remember if it was after the first or second championship. there was a championship extravaganza at the astrodome with all the rockets coaches and players... when rudy took to the podium, he said something to the effect... "you have to give these players credit for having the balls to do what they did... big, round, hairy balls!" i was thinking, "okay?" classic moment, nonetheless.
Aaargh! Rudy T is the one true rocket! I also give my vote for showing deep gratitude by erecting his statue.
