Langone is a venture capitalist, so I do not really care too much about his opinion on Donald Trump. His interests are very different than 99% of the country.

Having said that, I have met him at a few Catholic charity events and he is very personable and will talk politics without getting defensive or dismissive.

He also is 90 years old, he has aged amazingly well.

If you are now arguing that illegal immigrants are a net negative to the US economy because of the accidents they cause, health care they receive, etc, you are wrong. The exploitation of their cheap illegal labor creates incredible value at their expense - farming, restaurants, hospitality, construction, you name it. Without the exploitation of their labor, a ton of things would cost a ton more: groceries like fruits and vegetables, meat from meat packing facilities, a night out at a restaurant, staying in a hotel, renting a house or apartment, buying a home.

Stick to the “illegal is illegal, I don’t care about economic benefits versus costs” argument.

My point was that it was surprising to see you wandering into discussion about economic impact of illegal immigrants. It is disingenuous to talk about the economic negatives of illegal immigrants if you’re not going to recognize the enormous economic benefits. That’s a losing argument.
