they’re just low IQ and blatantly dishonest people

these protections had to be put in place for a reason

they’ve even have had to pass “Crown Acts” in over 10 states to put an end to black people being discriminated against in the work place because of our natural hair and it being deemed unprofessional…imagine being told the hair you’re born with is inherently unprofessional and it affecting your ability to work

all they have to do is stop being racist and there would be no need for any of these laws, but that’s impossible for them…it’s a wickedness

This might be fine for running a corporate division or cleaning house to put your own stamp but for diplomacy, it makes look America highly bipolar to others and very dubious that it can keep it's word.

I guess mercantilist swagger is great for boosting morale but it signals more coddling of domestic industry that's far removed from the old free trade policies conservative parties used to peddle in place of libs wanting to socialize and control everything.

I just thought it was interesting that even The NY Times is considering it in almost neutral terms . . . I guess you could say the NYT is jumping on board the Trump Corruption Train

It's far smarter for them to give him a shot or even the customary 100 days than kicking and screaming at every little thing he muses.

The man will fail a lot and half of it probably won't even be his doing.

True. His decision on the WHO is already hurting us. And he's just getting started. It certainly isn't his fault that egg prices have gone up. But it is his fault for claiming that they would go down his first day.

Yes! Exactly. How many times do we have to hear people complain about being the victim of the left wing biased media, or pretending that holding people who broke the law or committed felonies and were found guilty in a court of law are victims of political persecution. Cut the victim status crap. I wish everyone would.

Voters aren't going to have buyers remorse from unkept day one promises on day five. They just want him to act like he campaigned because those expectations were made when they voted for him.

I remember feeling frustrated under Biden because he did stuff he never campaigned for only for his aides to laugh off questions as if those smug bastards had all the answers.

Even the stuff about inflation took a good two years on his watch before people kept taking about it... like when everyone realized the inflation wasn't transitory and prices weren't going back to what they used to be.

All this petty score keeping is old married couple bullshit. A very weak and counterproductive way to feel heard. It's like crying wolf at this point

I will jump in and say one thing.
If you think that good ol boys have not been hiring their own all the while I will sell you some beachfront property in Woodville, Texas.

I suspect that the insiders give courtesy interviews to folks not like themselves. Like the Rooney Rule in the NFL.
But already have a handshake agreement with one of their own well in advance.
Let the rank and file be the melting pot, but keep the inner circle, well the inner circle.

    Am I wrong?

So I have a very close friend who works in and around USAID. He works as a watchdog of aid disbursement and a monitor of program effectiveness. Yesterday he was basically told to pack it in. His projects will be suspended indefinitely and he will, at best, be furloughed, but most likely the companies he works with and for will shutter.

My friend makes little money. He's truly in it for the right reasons. The projects he's closest to are AIDS and famine prevention in Sub-Saharan Africa and infrastructure in Kosovo. The budget of USAID is minuscule, but the return on investment of the money spent at USAID is massive. The soft power and influence (let alone the decrease in human death and suffering) that is gained from the programs and expenditures at USAID cannot be quantified by price, even as vanishingly little we spend on it.

I equate it to NASA. It's a leading indicator of the health, function, and future of our country, but it's defenseless against reckless political animals governed by short-term thinking and radical ideology. It's an easy target as 1) it's all discretionary spending and 2) it's all under the control of the executive branch. It's an easy bone for Trump to throw to his base.

I understand and sympathize with the "shrink the government" folks. There's plenty of things the federal government does that it should not be doing, but this should be one of the last targets for that austerity. Like burning a fruit bearing tree to stay warm, you're only hurting yourself in the long run.

Donald Trump likely has no idea what the Project 2025 XOs are that he is signing ... and appears to not care.

The past week has been a reminder that the US is also:
    • Bowing out of making the planet more habitable
    • Giving up on the EV AND battery race
    • Actively antagonizing trade partners that will ramp prices
    • Defunding non-profits and social services!
    • And now, potentially also defunding science, research, hospitals, and schools
