Camps and a paramilitary? Sounds vaguely familiar. Brown's a good color though.

The guy in the photo with Jr. is Kyle Diamantas, an unremarkable Florida Attorney with no particular accomplishments other than being a hunting buddy. He's now in charge of USDA's food safety and inspection program.

Related, as a BBQ-loving fat boy, I never thought I would become a vegetarian, but I'm seriously considering it now.

Oh, he'll also be in charge of infant formula safety.

[CNN] Walmart warns of a slower 2025. That’s a bad sign for America’s economy

Walmart warned Thursday that its sales and profit growth will slow this year. The forecast sent its stock tumbling around 6% during early trading. It also dragged down the Dow, which fell more than 1%.

To be sure, Walmart’s business remains relatively strong and consumers are “resilient,” the company said. Walmart said sales will grow by up to 4% this year and profit will grow up to 5.5%. But that was short of investor expectations.

Walmart (WMT) is the largest retailer in the United States and a bellwether for consumer spending. Its projected slowdown is a signal for the rest of the retail industry that 2025 will be a rockier year.

David Silverman, a senior director at Fitch Ratings, expects “retail choppiness to continue in 2025,” given a recent dip in consumer sentiment, particularly for lower-end consumers and tariffs, he said in a note to clients Thursday.

Customers making more than $100,000 a year looking to save on groceries have fueled the growth at Walmart in recent years. Walmart has also built a strong online operation to rival Amazon. It has added the option to buy online and pickup in store to thousands of its locations and Walmart+, a same-day grocery delivery membership program.

But Walmart acknowledged it will have to navigate tariffs and manage other challenges.

Red states are dependent on cheap labor from illegal immigrants who are recruited from agencies funded by the same gop state govts. These agencies are based in blue states.

Cheap labor has to come from some place. Do they start importing Indian laborers/unskilled workers on contracts signed in India? If they bypass the labor traffickers. That's no unions, indian pay rates, less to no rights... It could be any other developing country but corporations in first world countries have unwittingly employed trafficked labor from third parties and they are largely Indian.

    Brown for brown?

I should say we will make mistakes. We won't be perfect. But when we make a mistake we'll fix it quickly. So for example with USAID, one of the things we accidentally canceled briefly was Ebola prevention. --Elon Musk fielding questions and leading the Cabinet meeting

He accidentally cancelled Ebola prevention? Please. You can't break things and then "quickly" fix them, particularly with a system as complex and dynamic as the US government. Your government has people that work outside cubes, that do stuff in the real world instead of monkey code. This quote shows the utter ignorance and depravity in his process. Anyone with half a brain and a little integrity would would look at the inefficiencies and contradictions in laws first and then identify functions that could be improved.

And again, they are doing this because they don't like the laws of the United States but are too weak to change them through a normal democratic process. So instead, they attack federal employees in an attempt to make the laws they don't like unenforceable.
Also, nobody asked for the AI crap. None of it.

Sigh. The new plan at the Social Security Administration is to turn customer service over to AI bots. I'm sure the older seniors will appreciate the change and not be confused by any of it.

Of course, the AI bot will ask a bunch of personal questions, pair that with info from the SS database, and feed it all into another non-fed database that ends up being used to take advantage of seniors on Social Security.

They want to steal the whole country.
