It isn't that democracy is bad, it just isn't inherently good. It is a means by which the government is put into power. I would much prefer to limit the power of government so that it mattered very little who was at the wheel.
I'm neither an antagonist nor a protagonist to democracy. I find that we have gotten a lot of negative results from the system, but that seems to be common among many systems.

LOL you were literally just fighting for ICE ability to break into your apartment with no warrant/probable cause because they may "suspect" someone is illegal living there. No evidence no reasonable suspicion no nothing yet you ran running to defend them.

    Clown behavior

I never once mentioned anything about ICE being allowed to break into your apartment with no warrant or probable cause. That was the argument you attributed to me. I said when serving a warrant, the police (and by extension ICE) are allowed to zip tie other people in the area for officer safety (which has been allowed forever).

Also a libertarian with a government job. The joke about libertarians being house cats is pretty spot on.

Why do you play dumb? My original post said ICE is out of control and not following the law. You came running to their defense claiming its normal for SWAT to detain anyone whos in the apartment. ICE is not detaining people simply in the same apartment. They are raiding and breaking into random people's houses with no warrant. Why are you talking about some bs made up scenario and not the scenario on hand? They are raiding an entire apartment building not just a unit

Why are you so disingenuous towards Republicans vs Democrats. If a democratic admin was breaking into people's homes without a warrant you would be having a panic attack

It could be a problem. But merely pouting out someone is a Republican isn't proof of anything.

I don't think I'll concede the word "accurate." Thinking merely academically (as opposed to rhetorically), it is possible to have effectively fascist government without a complete dismantling of all liberal institutions. In fact, that 'fully fascist' form you insist on I would actually call 'totalitarianism.'

But, you're thinking rhetorically with rhetorical goals of having people act in certain ways. I can appreciate the risk you see here of normalizing fascism. I also see an opposing risk of giving people the impression that we aren't in crisis and there is still opportunity to fix things later. In the end, I can't control what other people are going to think and I'm not much interested in trying. I'm going to say what I believe and if readers are misled or turned off or whatever, that's on them. Imo, the tipping point was a while ago, the crisis is now, and the damage is probably irreversible.

Btw, I do expect white males of the middle class and better will do just fine under fascism if they don't get scruples about injustice. Plenty of Germans were doing great in the Third Reich. Most of the MAGA who think we're doing fine now will probably also think so later.

Statute of limitations, according to AI, is 5 to 6 years, depending on the infraction - i.e. they have a year or two after Drumpf's 4 years to file charges. If Drumpf pardons everybody, we can drag them through their own mud and hit them with perjury when they ineviatably lie, as once everybody is pardoned they won't be able to plead the 5th.

If you want to see them held acccountable, vote early and vote often straight Democrat ticket. They're probably going to try to fix the election, but we'll burn that bridge when we come to it.
