http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/CECH-ZR1J.html You can order the Japanese remote from that website. It'll cost you a little bit more than the eventual US remote, but it works fine on the American PS3. I just received my 20GB PS3 in the mail today and it's working great so far. Really quiet(unlike the jet engine called the 360) and load times are fast. I tried out Kingdom of Heaven which looked and sounded fantastic. Even Talladega Nights didn't look as bad as I was expecting after reading all the negative comments. I've got 5 more Blu-ray discs on the way, so I'm enjoying my format neutrality.
Depends on the game. XBL is all P2P IIRC, so there's no issues with allowing for cross-region online play. PS3 developers have the option of using dedicated servers or P2P. Ridge Racer 7 uses P2P, and thus, allows people in the US to play people in Japan (and eventually Europe), or vice versa. Resistance uses dedicated servers, and at this time, does not allow people in the US to play people in Japan (or vice versa). That said, Insomniac is working with Sony to get a patch released (for Resistance itself I believe, although it may be for the PS3/PSN) that would allow them to use international servers...or use them correctly anyway (they've already tested cross-region play prior to the release of Resistance). I'm not exactly sure how this will work out in the future, so I added that as a possible concern. Ideally, it shouldn't be a problem. Sony can't even get their video output to work out correctly though, so I don't know if we should count on things working "ideally." I think the Blu-ray remote for the PS3 just started hitting retail stores (EB Games/Gamestop specifically) in the past day or so. That might be worth checking out.
if you guys are looking for ps3..the walmart on beltway 8 near 59 has like 8 of them in stock...i was hunting for a wii..but found those instead..didnt grab any..i know for sure they had the 60 gb..dono if they have any 30 gb..
Not sure where to put this... The PS3 has lost another exclusive. Virtua Fighter 5 will be released on the Xbox 360 at the end of next summer (PS3 release is in February IIRC). I didn't really think "losing" Bladestorm, Fatal Inertia, or Assassin's Creed (though I don't think AC was ever really exclusive to the PS3) was a big deal, but this could be somewhat meaningful, particularly in Japan (assuming it gets released there on the 360...not 100% it will though). VF is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, fighting games out there, and VF5 has been hyped up quite a bit (even when it was arcade-only). Maybe this will pressure Team Ninja to work a little harder on the next DOA game too...they've had little competition when it came to 360 fighters. Time to take VF5 off my list of must-have PS3-exclusives...wonder if I should be getting ready to take off Mercenaries 2 and Unreal Tournament 2K7 also.
virtua figher is not the biggest fighter out there. street fighter? TEKKEN? I'm willing to bet if a new version of Soul Calibur were to be released, it would outsell Virtua Fighter 2 to 1 ...come on RC COLA get on your game.
Well, I bought the PS3 as a Blu-ray player. Virtua Fighter 5 was just gonna be the icing on the cake since I've been a fan of that series since the first game was at Exhilarama at Memorial City Mall. As long as VF5 is available for the PS3, I'm set.
VF4 sold almost twice the number of copies that Tekken 5, SF EX3, and SC3 sold in Japan (~560k to ~307k/~202k/~130k). In the US, it was only outsold by SC3 (by about 80k). I believe VF is pretty big in the arcades, although I don't know how to compare it to the other fighters. In any case, it is one of the biggest fighting franchises out there in terms of sales numbers. Of course, since there are only a few decent fighting games available, it is one of the biggest fighters basically by default (I'd rank it together with Tekken and SC, in no particular order). VF4 was also the highest rated of the various fighting games IIRC.
owned. nice statistics... I guess my circle of friends are in the minority of people that think that game sucks. Although it looks great, it's just not as good as tekken and SF, imo.
Has anyone here made (or is planning to make) a Japanese account to access the the JP PS Store? Is anyone planning on checking out GTHD when it comes out in 2 days? Just curious. PD released a new trailer recently that shows off how amazing the car models look (in replay mode anyway...I think), so my interest level in that game has risen a bit. Here's that trailer: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AUIgIXmYxtI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AUIgIXmYxtI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Some pics: Spoiler
Not sure if anyone in Dallas is interested, but my boss just got back from Fry's off of 75/George Bush and they had 20 and 60 gig systems...As for Wii's, well, the guy said they were stuck in Denver, but I call BS as I thought there were all gone for the year...
For anyone in Houston: I went to the Toys R' Us in Humble off of 59 North. They had at least 8 60 gig Playstation 3's there. Needless to say I bought one. They must have just received them in. I went in to look for a present for someone else but, I just wanted to look in their videogames section. I saw the PS3 boxes on top of the clear videogame case but, I thought they were just the empty boxes advertising the system. I remember running in there last year for the Xbox 360 after seeing the system boxes to only discover they were display boxes. It really sucked... Lol What is funny is that my PS3 won't be hooked up until they actually have games I want to play. Which will be a while. For now it's all Oblivion and Gears of War all the time!
They scrapped the idea of releasing it as a retail game (along with all the micro transaction crap), so that they can focus on GT5. They are going to release concept demos for GT5, which will have the GTHD name. Here's some more details on all this: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/748/748610p1.html http://ps3.ign.com/articles/751/751831p1.html I think SCEA just announced that it will be available on the US PS Store on the 24th as well, so basically forget my previous question. I thought that GTHD might not be available on the US PS Store until later (if ever). A US date had not previously been announced, so I was thinking that anyone wanting to play it would need a JP account. Glad to see that isn't the case (thought it might still help to have one). I think PD put up some more videos on their homepage.
Well, I'm actually getting mine here in a day or two (a friend had bought it for me and held it, he's going to return it and I'll buy it right after him). Probably pick up Resistance as well. This, combined with my 360 HD-DVD player, will keep me prepared for whichever format wins. Now I just gotta buy the card reader so I can play my PS2 saves, some HDMI cables, and hope that Sony patches their hardware so it can support 1080i. Then I get to wait for MGS4 (which might come to the 360, rumor has it), DMC4, and all the other games that were supposedly going to be launch titles.
