Exactly...I just got back from lunch at the Galleria in Dallas...We just happened to stop by the Sony Style store ...I put my self on a waiting list (96) and asked how many they got today...The lady didn't know, but said people started lining up at 2 pm yesterday afternoon...When the store opened, they sold out in 30 minutes... ******************ALERT*************** Just got this in an email from Gamestop: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/ps3/ps3_signup.asp?affid=3002&source=1117 Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, PS3 Turns out at least one of these may be real. Friday evening, we will have a limited quantity of PlayStation 3 20 Gig HD bundles available for online pre-order. Each bundle will include an extra wireless controller, six games, a one-year product replacement plan, a 12 month subscription to Game Informer and a Resistance: Fall of Man guide. The price will be $994.28 plus tax and handling. We expect these bundles to ship on or before December 1.
This is crazy...I just clicked on ebay and as of 3:40 pm., there were something like 14000 listings of PS3 systems...Ok, I want one, but they look to be around $2K...with that many sellers, i'm sure a lot of people won't be getting the mark-up they once thought they were going to get...still, anything above $499 and $599 is a profit...
Any word on next shipments? Id seriously return my 20gig in a month or so and trade up. Best Buy is hush about it (and everything else). So any inside info?
Out of curiosity, why do you want to trade up so bad? Sony reps have said they'd have weekly shipments of 100K, but I don't think that will happen (MS said the same thing IIRC). Since it seems like Sony failed to meet both the 100K target they set in Japan and the 400K target they set in NA, I don't think I'd trust their newest target. Depending on what you want, it might be easier to just buy the things that separate the two models from Newegg or something (60GB HDD, USB memory card adapter, etc.). WiFi might be harder to get, but I'm sure there will be a solution for that (if there isn't one already). With all this eBaying (with the 360, PS3, and even the Wii to some degree), I wonder if the big three will change things in the next console cycle. Maybe have an open market price decided by retailers like Sony did with the PS3 in Japan (with the 60GB SKU anyway). You can argue whether auctioning off 360s/PS3s/Wiis is right or wrong, but in either case, it seems clear that the industry isn't quite benefitting from these launches as much as they should be (might even be hurt quite a bit by it if you assume the worst).
Went to Best Buy and they said that it's possible that they may not get more until after New Years, the guy said even if they do, it may only be something like 15 units. The guy told me that Sony hasn't given them any type of news on shipments, guy from Toys R Us told me the same thing.
Meanwhile, back at the Legion of Sony, shipments are said to be arriving in America daily. It just doesn't add up.
With their "Air Shipments" coming on the hour, every hour. (What they don't tell you is the Air Shipments contain 1/2 a PS3, so there's a total of 12 in the US added every day)
Is that what you want for x-mas, drewp? Alright...I'll drive over to Dallas and buy it for you. Just don't ask for anything else...like accessories. Sheesh.
Of course. In fact, you can replace it with any 2.5" SATA HDD...or even any 3.5" SATA HDD, but that won't be pretty. Basically like replacing HDDs in PCs (or even easier).
Benny am cry. My friend's PS3 is one of the first to have malfunctions. We tried several different tv's and cables (composite and hdmi) but he stills get this buzzing noise (interference) and the picture will get jumbled.
