I'd like to have Jabari, OR I could handle trading down in the right scenario...if it netted us a big haul.
I understand the philosophy here, but believe he is too good to pass up. Plus the FO has already said they have enough picks for this draft.
Taking a hard look at KJP’s stats it’s clear that his 3 pt shooting has improved substantially, and he has improved his defense. I also see flashes of better decision making with the ball, but it’s not consistent and still isn’t great. His foul shooting is just terrible, but that’s one of the easiest things to improve. that said, I wouldnt commit long term money to him until he’s demonstrated he’s taken another step next year. He’s not running the point well and I don’t know what his best position is, but he’s super talented and can play 3 positions. At this point it’s fair to call him one of our building blocks because of his massive upside and demonstrated improvement. But that’s also a bit of an inditement of a lack of true building blocks on our roster.
Feels like a versatile 6th man on a contending team. But I see him as more of a 2/3. He is not a 1, and without a doubt not a 1 you want to build a team around. I could get a better evaluation of him if we played a more traditional PG (like Schroder) next to him for a long period of time and we got Wood off the team to some desperate contender. I'm a believer that guys need some structure to develop and this year's roster once again has just been chaos.
This is both encouraging and discouraging. The good part is his 3 point shooting has taken a huge leap. So for this year, really good 3 point shooting, elite even in some places, but not nearly enough getting to the basket and finishing. He is too big and too good of an athlete for this to not be fixable right? Honestly, his ability going to the basket is what I noticed last season that concerned me the most and I voiced that concern a few times. I feel like a requisite skill of your PG is he needs to be that guy that is a constant threat to get downhill going towards the basket and collapsing defenses.
I dont believe KPJ is the pg of the future. I also don't want us locking him up for a long time or for big $$$. I just have a feeling he is always going to be on the high maintenance side.
Checking out some of his scoring highlight packages right now. Seeing some trends. As previously noted, I’d like to see more getting to the basket and finishing. Seems like he gets into his dribble package and ends up taking an outside shot. Fortunately the threes have been going down. I don’t know what the stats say, but it feels like he is better going to the basket when he has the option to throw it up to a roller. Id like to see him utilize his explosive leaping ability more, but I don’t think that’s his game unless it’s a fast break.
Can a contract be non guaranteed for multiple years? IE give him 4 years 65 million but each year is NG.
JR posted it while I was watching KPJ highlights. Unrelated kind of, but for fun here is Cade Cunningham, JG, Mobley, Barnes, and Suggs.
who are these two ? I did not think that kpj said was particularly “concerning” .. dude is a very good shot from most of 3pt land and only has one bad spot . his finishing at the rim is low , but some of that could be taken away with a better PnR partner . His turnovers are down and he’s still a young player . Imo not cornering shot chart. Ft shooting issues probably point to a lack of conditiong/ focus . But ramping up workload at 22 is to be expected . He can become a Better athlete and bring in more 2-way capability and stronger finishing . Imo has top player written all over him . him , Tate , green , sengun , Christopher is the core . Plus we have the upcoming picks . Hopefully we find ourselves in position to get more frontcourt talent . Kpj is a kraken stud . Everyone thought SGA is a great young player to build around .. Imo kpj is better . His defense is underrated . One or two more offseasons of strength and conditioning (along with green) and we’ve given ourselves a really good guard pairing .
K thanks . yeah this doesn’t look concerning for me . Maybe concerning for the league in a few years .. maybe not lol . Looks like some good 3pt bombers to me . Lillard and McCollum with upside ? Both look good on D at times . I’m pretty happy with kpj and green so far . I’ve seen improvement and enough good defensive hustle to know that they can continue to grow into good team players . My best hope is that josh Cristopher grows to 6’7”-6’8” and plays 3 with Tate coming off the bench as a super sub with garuba and Gary .
