He has mental health issues obviously but that's not the issue with him. It's more of his work ethic such as showing up for voluntary morning practices. But if the org doesn't seem overly concerned, then I wouldn't be either.
Maybe, maybe not. all these young dudes seem to be developing the second half of the season with the same coaches. these coaches are just following the in-game tanking plan the FO gave them
Really don’t understand the turnovers complaints. If you actually pay attention to other players stats you’d see KPJ has just as many or even sometimes less than other star players I randomly googled Morant, Luka, & Trey young’s stats and they all average more turnovers per game than KPJ, and has players like Mathews & Tate in his starting line up lol Now that Jalen is starting to be more aggressive & efficient KPJ doesn’t have to try to do all this extra **** like at the beginning of the season. KPJ & Green going to compliment each other very well. Honestly think they could be the next curry & klay in terms of marketing. They seem to be very comfortable recently just trading buckets
I honestly don’t even recognize this dude. I’m hoping this isn’t just because we’re playing the Kings. More proof that it was never personal for me with KPJ. I wasn’t liking the product I was seeing. Seems like some coaching decisions may have played an even larger role in that than I thought. I always felt he could thrive if utilized appropriately, but it also seems like Wood was an obstacle for he and Jalen too. Also we know for a fact KPJ is on social media and lots of people were starting to warm up to the Ivey idea and posting about it (even Clutch himself) because Ivey goes hard and gets to the rim. KPJ has been going hard the past few games. I don’t have much to say negatively about these last 2 games. Minor nitpick stuff, but I have some minor nitpick things about Green’s game as well even though he’s on a heater. Green scored 33 on 59% TS, but he could’ve had 43. The bigger issue with KPJ has been that when he struggles, the team struggles because he is the engine.
Love how these 2 hype each other up. Look how Jalen is pointing after KPJ crossed dude. Lol Then the way KPJ talks about JG is pretty special.
I don't think they are trading Gordon unless someone offers a lottery pick. So I don't think they're trading Gordon. Maybe Wood + our Nets pick moves us up into the lottery and we can grab like a Jalen Duren or Jeremy Sochan around #10. Wall just gonna pout until we have cap space, I'm okay with it. Something like- Porter/Green, Tate, #1 overall, Sengun Nix, Christopher, Mathews, Martin, Garuba (Wall/pout), Gordon, #Nets, $veteranFA$, Fernando Gordon is playing half the games, so he steps in when and where needed among the rotation guards/3s. He provides that veteran influence all day. There's room to get a locker room guy that won't play much too. Resign Fernando. Not losing much as far as leadership (or on-court influence tbh) by trading Wood on draft night. I don't expect this team to win a championship. I do expect that it would be a fun viewing experience. Building on what we've seen the last 10 games with a top flight Smith or Banchero, adding depth with the Nets pick... Green is going supernova next year... And then we have a max contract to offer 23-24....
This stretch has been good.. Can't argue against the numbers... How great would his numbers be without the bone headed plays in between the good plays tho?
I don't care about empty stats in meaningless games both teams are trying to lose. Dump this guy to the highest bidder, otherwise cut him.
Green has had some empty stats in meaningless games. Wonder if anyone would take him? If not, cutting both of them seems the most reasonable option.
KPjr has had us positioned well in the last three games...That's with the youngins out there, no frontline, and putting up monster #'s. Oh, and with LOSING being the objective. These have been magnificent tank jobs with great play/progress from our guards. Those of you who are bending over backwards to give him a hard time look like fools at this point. We're getting a glimpse of what should become a great backcourt.
he has played well, but I don't see it as a binary decision; either he's a building block or not. he's played much better in the second half of the season. I'm impressed with how he improved his shooting and lowered his TOs. I'm still not 100% convinced he's a PG or a cornerstone piece BUT there's enough there to warrant another year as a starting PG. I would say I'm happy to revisit this conversation at this time next year. Can he become more consistent? can he do this in the context of winning games? Will he accept a pecking order where he's likely 3rd at best behind jalen, '22 pick, and alpy? What will his asking price on the next contract be? there are a lot of questions left to answer. But as I said he's shown enough flashes to warrant some more time. and no decision needs to be made until he's up for a new contract. however, would I plan our top 5 pick around the fit with KPJ? no. so as far as "cornerstones" go, its only jalen. alpy is close but he needs to prove he can do what he does against starters and consistently in order to earn that title.
There is no doubt he makes some head scratchers.....like trying to do too much and is lazy with his passing at times.....but even those are coming down. Everyone wants to be all flash at 21 when you are mostly losing, once 23-24 hits and we are winning those will be gone I will bet. DD
Next 4 games we get to see what he does against some real teams. Has he turned the corner as a player or merely took advantage of some weak opponents?
Yeah both he and Green have feasted on 2 games against Sacremento where they play no defense at all, but all teams get to play those teams too and their overall numbers reflect that. And not everyone can thrive even against bad teams...... DD
And sometimes those weak opponents unlock something even if it’s just confidence and guys can cary that over. I just want KPJ to play with that same swagger, decisiveness, and aggression he showed us. Not expecting superstar numbers. That’s why some of us were advocating letting them play a little bit in blowout losses. Figure things out in a competitive, but less intense environment, but still against NBA players. It worked for Josh Christopher and Jalen Green actually broke out his slump after getting hot during a garbage time game.
